Simply amazing! Mies van der Rohe, designer of the revolutionary 1929 Barcelona Pavilion, created this residential modernist masterpiece (the first residential use of the Barcelona Chair) - and it is as extraordinary today as when it was completed in 1930. The story of the home, which reopened in 2012 following extensive restoration, and the Tugendhat family is both tragic and inspiring. Make every effort to visit. But, plan ahead - reservations are required and the English language tours fill up weeks in advance. About the rating - the residence is Excellent, but the tour we had was average.
