“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2009

Stayed here in an executive room on the 5th floor for four nights in August.

The room was what you would expect very good, clean with a nice soft bed and good quiet aircon.
The service was very good, everyone polite, helpfull and professional.
Food in the Restaurant very good, fairly basic but very reasonable prices.

The downsides were the Fitness room is very small and very hot in August and coming from England I had forgotten almost how bad smoking affects a public area, the reception and bar were really bad and very very smelly, not really the Hotels fault though.

Overall very good.

I have been at the Holiday Inn Brno in August.
It is just outside the city center, in front of the fair multi-storey parking; Taxi to city center is about 150 CZK and takes a few minutes.
The Hotel building is modern, the room (I had an executive bedroom) was large, with sofa, flat TV, international channels.
Everything at a good 4 star level.
It is however classified as 5 star; which might appear a little pretentious on a global scale, but we are not in a big capital city, all the services are present, so it might make sense.
Room service has a decent menu, hotel staff was friendly while professional.
There is an outdoor (partially covered) parking on the rear (directly accessible from reception) which is constantly guarded 24h; a big plus I think.
I did not use the Gym, on the 6th floor.
Free high speed internet (wired in the room).
Breakfast was just OK, no frills, limited fruits, but everything essential was available.
The temperature of the shower was a little difficult to control, but not a real problem.
Very good bathroom amenities.
The dark curtains cannot overlap, so, unless you find a way to keep them shut, an early natural wake up is assured in summer months. It is unbelievable how frequent this problem is in hotels.
Good room, good parking, sufficiently good room service and breakfast; I don't think one can ask more in Brno.

This hotel could be anywhere, it's just a typical Holiday Inn: nothing special, no charme, not good, not bad, just a place to sleep.

There's one good thing: when you've got an exhibition you should stay here, it's directly at the entrance. But if you're in Brno for other purpose there's no reason to stay at this place without any soul. It's located quite far from the center, at the exhibition grounds.

The rooms are 3*, the bathroom, the breakfast... Just sooo boring! In case there're nice 4* hotels (old building, renovated, charming...) in the City Center - at lower prices. We've visited Hotel Ricc: what a fantastic place compared to Holiday Inn.

We checked in at 1:00 in the morning and splurged on an upgraded room (a necessity since the hotel was otherwise full). Wow! Chic modern bathroom (glass vessel sink, etc.), luxe bathrobes, comfy beds, basket of cool treats, sparkling clean, friendly staff. We slept through breakfast, but I'm sure that was great, too.

We needed a hotel in Brno recently when we were in the Czech Republic searching for our family's hometown. Brno is rather industrial, and I don't normally like Holiday Inns, but we could not have been more pleased. On arrival they were expecting us (in the period between Christmas and New Years there were few travelers, so they knew who we were the moment we walked in and even had our check-in information, by name, waiting on the front desk). Although the hotel is 15 years old, it was refurbished about 5 years ago, and has good amenities. Secure parking, which we look for in Central and Eastern Europe, was right next door. The only downside was that the hotel restaurant was closed over the holidays, so we went to downtown Brno, which really wasn't much, but we did find a decent dinner. In the morning breakfast was from a buffet or cooked to order, and we had little trouble being understood, as there were were English speaking staff in every location in the hotel. While I doubt we'll be back in Brno anytime soon, I'd use this hotel again, and, if on business at the exhbition center, this hotel couldn't be better.

  • Liked — Quality of rooms and service
  • Disliked — That hotel restaurant was closed without notice

I really like this hotel. Yes it's 20mins from the centre and next to the exhibition halls but the rooms are large, the beds extremely comfortable, cleanliness excellent and the breakfasts are phenomenal. The choice from fresh fruit salads, cereals, meats, cheeses, pastries, cakes, bacon, eggs, sausages, various breads I could go on. The best breakfast I've had in any hotel.
