“Scrumptious and affordable food, 5 out of 5”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

Definitely visit this stylish red-floored café in functionalist architechtural style for their delicious food and hospitable atmosphere. Friendly (bilingual) staff who offered to translate the entire 'menu' (big chalkboard on the wall) for us. Great no-fuss yet elegant dishes and very reasonably priced, plus excellent service. A 5 out of 5 for me.

“Great food for a café”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

I'm not going to write about the avant-guarde interior which made this café famous and which made people wait for its reopening few years ago with "breath that is bated". I just want to recommend it because of the food, the location, the great, friendly, professional, smiling staff and the cosy garden behind the house. The café is located in a quite residential area, not in the city centre, which is good for the city spirit (decentralized towns are always more pleasant to live in). There is a very sunny terrace in front of the building and a shadowy terrace behind it. The inside is sober, white walls, black furniture, red and blue stairs connecting the ground floor with a smaller upper floor. There is no menu card - the menu is written on a black board and actualized according to what is going on in the kitchen. I personally find this way better than the usual menus. You can be sure everything is fresh and everything written on the board is really there. To drink you can order home made lemonades (plain, basil, ginger...) and big bottles of water which is not common in the Czech Republic where almost every restaurant is selling you tiny bottles and you have to order on and on. It's a café, not a fine dining restaurant, so the choice of food is simple, casual, light, fresh and somewhat "gutbürgerlich", like the perfectly tender rabbit my sister and I had. It's worth a trip even if you're not from Brno.

“Nice place near Vila Tugendhat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2012

Nice functionalist non-smoking cafe / restaurant just 500 meters from famous Vila Tugendhat. 1-st floor restaurant offers good quality meal for very good price. 2-nd floor cafe is good place to rest for a while. Staff is (probably) bilingual CZ/ENG and according to our experience very helpful. The only drawback is Starobrno beer on tap (which according to my opinion is "standard euro beer" produced by Heineken in Brno).
