“very recommendable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

It is a very inconspicuous hotel, but very recommendable! The whole staff was very, very nice and helpful in all special matters. The room was absolutely satisfying and spacious. A not too big but absolute excellent breakfast brunch on the top floor with a beautiful view over a part of Brno made a perfect start of the day.

i stayed here for 6 nights in september 2012. it is situated in a quiet locality yet very near to the center place. my first check-in day was pretty hot & there are no a/c's or ceiling fan in the rooms. i asked for a fan at the reception & she gave me a hair dryer!!! that was quite funny (due to language problem) but once the lady at reception understood my problem she immediately called up the owner who himself came down to my room with a small table fan which was incidentally "Alaska" make. so again there was a huge laughter as he intentionally pointed out towards the make of the fan and wished my stay was as cool as it would be in alaska!! the point being, my problem was promptly sorted out. all the folks at the reception were extremely co-operative though english language is a bit of problem.
+ points:
1. very near to tram station, hardly 3 mins walk
2. very near to exhibition grounds, just 3 tram stops
3. clean, big rooms with spotlessly clean toilet
4. not very elaborate but good breakfast on top floor. juices, fruits, cold cuts, breads, butter, jams, cakes, milk, cereals, scrambled eggs, goulash, tea, coffee & yoghurts.
5. own bar & restaurant in the basement. bar tender is also a jolly old fellow who speaks very good english. a local group of amateur entomologists meet here every tuesday evening.
6. quite near to the main railway station (3 tram stops from the station)
7. hotel staff (reception) is very co-operative and can meet all your demands like calling for a taxi, advising you about trams & buses etc.
8. has an elevator.

- points:
1. no ceiling fans or a/c. so if anybody is wanting to spend daytime in the room it could be quite hot. nights are pleasantly cool though.
2. there is new construction going on opposite this hotel so again if anybody is wanting to spend daytime in the room it could be quite noisy. try to book a room not facing the street.

all in all a very decent hotel worth every penny & i definitely recommend this hotel for budget travelers.

I stayed in this hotel for one night over the weekend. From outside the hotel and surrounding doesnt look really good. But you can order garage in next building (50m) for 4 EURs per night. Reception is still builded from early capitalism times without any ideas. But the stuff was ok and helpfull. The rooms is spacious, and there is enough light. Furniture is used but still looking good and everything was perfect clean. Also bathroom in my room was clean and ok. What was the best, was very good distance to the center, also very short distance to exhibition centre. Breakfast was very good and i was really suprised with quality. For this type of hotel, this is really something, and also the space with very nice view on roofs of Brno is great. There is also three tables on the balcony of breakfast room.

The rooms were HUGE and relatively modern. The reception was a small hallway and not super inviting. The breakfast room was on the top floor and had great views. Overall a very decent place and the price was right.
