“Top notch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Spent many nights here last year and have always enjoyed it tremendously. All the rooms are new and trendy. Staff is usually friendly and breakfast is really nice. Spa area is nice, treatments are good - the only issue was the the massage room was not warm anough and there is no cold water tank next to the sauna.

Overall probably one of the best hotels i visited on business purpose.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that do not look to the tram - the noise of the trains can be distirbing during th...

I have visited this hotel many times on business trips. Decoration is really special, but nice.

Some of the rooms are located near a street where trams are passing. That starts at 5AM and is really noisy.

Breakfast is decent but not very extended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at back of hotel

Maybe I'm missing something given the top rating. Here's my experience:

Check-in - Waited for the one person on duty top slowly check-in two people in front of me and I was interrupted twice by lengthy phone calls. No explanation of the hotel or services.

Room - Looks nice but on closer examination everything is plastic and starting to fall apart. The chain that secured my door was ineffective as the eye to hold the chain was twisted open and the chain fell out. The door jamb also was loose and it appeared this door may have been forced open and not repaired properly. All the room items looked as if they came from a close out at Ikea. Toiletries were low end. This was booking the "deluxe" room.

Noise - I had requested a quiet room but this was street side with a pub directly below. All I can say is some people had a loud and fun time until 4:00am.

Breakfast - Decent.

90 euros, while isn't expensive, still deserves better than this. I'll be looking elsewhere next visit.

Room Tip: another hotel

The location on the edge of the old town is excellent, the hotel (a former city Palace) itself is beautiful. The rooms are large, the furniture (in general silver (!) colour) is a bit doubtful. The light colours in the public patrts of the hotel also have cold, silver tendency - not cosy at all. The service can be rated as average to good: good in the sence that the staff is helpful, but VERY few. I stayed there twice. Once, for check-out in the morning, there was only one person serving a long line of guests - therefore, waiting time for checkout was 25 minuts - unacceptable for (not only!) a business traveller.
The worst part is the "spa": small, no good light, NO staff. The Sauna was cold, and one had to go to the reception (only one person at the desk, again: long waiting time to be served) to get the Sauna warmed up. Only ONE shower there, NO soap, shampoo or whatsoever. This part of the hotel definetily needs to be improved!

Room Tip: "Upper floors tend to have a better view, especially the ones above the main entrance, eg 418&q...

We stayed here at autumn and we have chosen this hotel because of good experience with Barcelo from Edinburgh. Barcelo Palace in Brno hotel was situaded in the beautiful historical building reconstructed into luxury, very nicely designed and comfortable accommodation in the centre of town. Service was good (with tiny imperfections - changing the room because of the absence of cot bed notified in advance), parking too expensive. Breakfast kept the standard of Balcelo chain - rich & fresh, but reflected the Moravian specifities as well (added local meat products, etc.) Spa is very nicely designed (with small privat relax zones), but it lacks the pool.

Loved this hotel; the rooms are more like 5*, and the staff are very attentive. They were more than happy to accommodate my gluten free eating. Breakfast seemed a bit 'corporate' rather than relaxed but the food was good.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Just returned back from our pre-Christmas trip to the Czech Republic. We booked this hotel following recommendations on Tripadvisor, and was not disappointed. Hotel situated in a central location, not far from the square/shops, which are approx 3 mins walk, and is close to the castle.

Staff very friendly and accommodating - I requested an iron, was with me within minutes. We had a problem with our TV, fixed that evening. We booked one of the junior suites. The bed was exceptionally comfortable (and wide!) and our room had ample of space with a separate seating area. For our first visit we had a separate shower cubicle as well as shower over both, but not on second visit. Needless to say, very powerful showers and gorgeous bathrooms.

My only slight niggle with the room, poor lighting, it seemed a little dark when the lamps were on and I had to dry my hair near mirror in hallway, but there are not major things.

Plenty of choice for breakfast - meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, cereal, eggs, bacon... you get the drift.

One thing I did notice with this hotel and the Czech Republic, is there are still public smoking areas, so be warned! I have been spoilt as the UK now operates non-smoking in hotels, bars, restaurants etc. We found people smoking in the hotel reception area, which is not very attractive or inviting.

Would certainly recommend this hotel - not very expensive either.!
