“decaying bohemia HEHE !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

this cafe pool bar is up 1 and a half flight of step stairs .
it had a great atmosphere , really felt like czechoslovakia 1968 , (sort off , might have been the wine and conversations .)
lovely high ceilings , and tall windows , ( would have loved a table by the window ) .
very large menu , 4 or 5 soups // casseroles, i only ate soup and bread , enjoyable as i remember .
my friends both had 2 courses , plus wine ,came to about £50 .
A WORD OF WARNING .
there are 3 types of taxi in prague .
crooks , semi crooks , and fair priced .
get your hotel // restaurant // venue to call you a taxi . or look for AAA fair priced .
taxi from hotel 3 km £10 , taxi from rank out side restaurant same 3 km £55 .

“Yummy food for reasonable price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Finding this restaurant was one of the highlight of the trip. We had dined at other places in Prague including one near the Prague castle and were disappointed with the quality and hidden charge. My husband suggested to try Cafe Lourve as it was first on the recommended list from our guide book - and the whole family (grandparents, couple with 2 kids) were so impressed that we ended up eating there for the reminding time for our trip!
We encountered the experience from previous reviewer that there was not a system for waiting table, we soon were suggested to go in the smoking area to find table. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. The quality of food was very good for the price. The desserts were so yummy and plenty to choose from. Of course, we had the famous Lourve cheese cake.
There was a seasonal brunch menu available 11:00-15:00 in Czech, the waiter translated to us so that we can make our order. On average the price for a dish is around £6-10, dessert around £2-4.

“Good reasonably priced cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

All the reviewers are pretty much spot on, very good food, fair service and best of all, ten meters from the entrance to our Old Town Residence Apartment. Food quality at this price level is hit or miss, but Cafe Louvre was a real win.

“Good Café but note that you have to find your own table!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We had dinner at Café Louvre at 7pm on 31 October 2012. I know that we were there during the peak dinner hour but I didn't expect that there is no system in place for waiting tables.

When we arrived, I approached the waiter asking for a table for 6. He frowned and told me that there are no tables now. Then he walked away.

Then there was another woman who looked like she is a manager and I asked her for a table. She told me that they are full now but expects tables to be available in 5 - 10 minutes. I asked if she wanted me to give her my name to wait and she said no. We just needed to wait.

So we did and waited for 10+ minutes while people of small parties just arrived and walked right in as if they were looking for vacant tables. Annoyed, I asked the first waiter again how does the system work? Do I just wait here or what? Then he told me rudely. that we were supposed to go in to find vacant tables. Well, it would have been nice if he told us this up front instead of having us stand around and wait.

So we stormed in, searched around and found a "soon to be vacant table" in the smoking section of the restaurant. As much as we don't want to be in the smoking section, we took it because it was the only table available.

After we sat down, the service got better as our waiter is more patience and smiles more. The food came and it was quite yummy. Dessert was good as well.

Worth a try to go here but remember that you are supposed to go find your own table!!
