Small hotel in a quiet location some 20 mins walk from the Charles Bridge. Lacks some facilities you might expect from a true 5* hotel (eg no gym or spa, limited room service menu) but this is more than compensated for by the attention to detail given to the service here. From your first step into the building, you feel very, very welcome. It's all been said in prior reviews.
-glass of champagne while check-in details are sorted and the lovely receptionist explains things
-immaculately presented rooms and public areas. Fabulous decor.
-we stayed in a 'suite general', well worth the extra cost. Large room, separate lounge, two bathrooms, superior bed with quality linen, full PC and two TVs, DVD etc. Quality toiletries.
-breakfast is great. Bear in mind this is a small hotel (20 rooms), breakfast is an intimate, largely buffet affair in the gorgeous dining room, but with certain dishes (omelettes, scrambled eggs, pancakes etc) cooked to order. Service is immaculate.
-cosy basement wine bar with v wide choice of wines, although can be very quiet down there
-everywhere spotlessly clean
-car service from airport very good, and unusually hardly any more expensive than a rank taxi. Recommended.
We booked direct with the hotel and received an almost immediate (personalised) welcome email with all relevant information.
I did notice one or two reviews suggesting this hotel is in a 'run down' area with nothing nearby. Neither is true. Yes, it's a 30 minute walk to the Old Town (nice stroll along the riverside path as it happens), but if you've had a long day on your feet, a taxi there is c GBP 4. Otherwise, we found a fairly wide choice of restaurants within a 5 minute walk (near the large (200 shop) mall - including Italians, Local Czech, an excellent Argentinian Grill (which we tried), TGI Fridays, a Mexican, Sushi, Chinese, etc etc. plenty of of choice to suit all pockets and tastes within a very short stroll. Also important to note this feels a very safe area to walk around - the relative quietness compared to the Old Town is an advantage. Sleep was blissful.
The staff here are wonderful and the service impeccable. We had a bottle of wine in the wine bar one evening and decided to take it to our room. We weren't 'allowed' to carry it ourselves. When we came down to check out, the bellhop was waiting for us beside the elevator when we arrived on the ground floor. It's that kind of place. A quiet haven, tucked away in a beautiful city. Perfect hotel for a long weekend getaway.
