“Jewish Quarter walking tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Just finished the walking tour of the Jewish Quarter with our guide Ron. His history of the country was incredible especially as he is a lecturer at the university. He explained so much that after a while we got brain overload! Was happy to answer questions to an extent which was good. The only small issue was that it run over an hour later than expected so did not finish until 2.30 and that made our final trip to the Spanish synagogue a short one as we had to get back as we were leaving this afternoon. Even though weather was a bit chilly it was a good tour but maybe needed a short break for a drink or toliet stop half way.

“Two tours in two days and both excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

We were fortunate to be able to secure a private tour with Sylvia Wittman for the Jewish Quarter in September. Her knowledge and candid insights into the history of Prague, and the Jewish people in particular, is impressive. What we enjoyed most about our tour with her is that she gave us a well-rounded perspective rather than presenting the history of the area from a single point of view. We were so happy with the tour that we decided book with her company for a tour of Terezin the following day. For this tour we were lucky to have Vida as our guide. Having grown up during the Communist occupation, and not even knowing she was Jewish until she was 14, she also offered an insightful look at Jewish life in the Czech Republic.

Terezin itself was a fascinating piece of history and Vida was captivating with her explanations of everything we were seeing around us. Although there is a lot of information at the site, a guide can add so much more depth to the experience of visiting this very important historic location.

“A tour guide who didn't want to be asked questions!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

I booked 2 tours with Wittman when my family visited Prague. The first one of the Jewish quarter was fine, nothing fabulous but not terrible. The 2nd tour was to Terazin. It was clear from the beginning that our guide, Susan, didn't want to do any more work than the minimum required. She was completely silent for at least half the bus ride there. On the tour, my daughter asked her many questions that she wouldn't or couldn't answer. She acted as tho she was annoyed to be asked additional questions about the tour. She tried to brush off my daughter in a rude way. Very unprofessional! I've never encountered a guide that found questions from her customers to be a bother! This tour should have been powerful, instead it was a huge disappointment. I complained to the office but they weren't willing to do anything about it except make a promise to talk to her.

“Helena was a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

We took the Jewish Quarter tour with Helena on October 3. There were only 6 of us and Helena was extremely kind to an elderly woman who was not appropriately dressed for the weather nor was wearing proper footwear. Helena stayed with us for an extra 1/2 hour to be sure we didn't miss anything. Her knowledge was excellent -- I wish she was with us when we went to Terezin the next day. Unfortunately, we were booked with a different company. Wittman tours to Terezin may be expensive, but you get what you pay for.

“Terezin (Theresienstadt)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Very informative tour of the former "model" concentration camp. Our tour was led by Suzana who was very knowledgable and a great guide. The camp is about 1 hour out of Prague and the transportation was included in the overall fee of the trip and guide. It can be difficult to see it all but necessary. There is minimal food available and the tour goes from about 10 AM till around 3 PM.
