“Everyone should do this.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We definitely wanted to see a concentration camp on our Eastern European journey and found this well-regarded tour company. We called to get some more information and a lovely, patient woman went through the cost and comparison for a tour of Auschwitz or Terezin from Prague. Because it was the off-season, there were no organized tours to Auschwitz, but they let us know that they could have a driver take us all the way to Poland and a private tour guide accompany us on the journey for a reasonable fee. We decided to go with the longer/more expensive tour because if we were only going to see one of the two, we thought the journey would be worth it.

We made the trip in one day and are incredibly pleased with the decision. We made great time on the drive (about five hours) and stopped twice along the way for bathroom/snack breaks. The guide even suggested we run back to our rooms and grab pillows so we could sleep on the long journey.

The tour guide was incredible- she was so knowledgable and provided incredible insights- as she had once gone through the camp with a survivor.

The tour was even more emotional and horrific than I had imagined. It was made more eery as hardly any others were there during our visit- apparently the atmosphere is completely different with thousands of tour groups in the summer.

I would strongly recommend taking the day trip to Auschwitz from Prague. I read elsewhere that the journey was not possible in a day by train, but this tour makes it very easy and the staff is wonderful/knowledgable.

“Three excellent tours with Wittmann Tours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

My husband and I went on three separate tours with Wittmann guides and each was special and unforgettable. We toured the Jewish quarter with Vida, whose exceptional knowledge, dry wit, and stories of family and work in Prague and elsewhere in the Czech Republic really enhanced our experience. We went to Terezin with a survivor of Terezin and Auschwitz, Pavel Stransky, who is over 90 years old. We felt privileged and honored to explore these places with a man whose courage, knowledge, humanity, commitment to Holocaust education, and lack of bitterness were truly extraordinary. Finally, we went on the Art & Architecture Tour with Barbora, the youngest of the three, a graduate student who has tremendous enthusiasm and passion for what she does. She too was very knowledgeable, and spent extra time with us to make sure that we were able to see just what we wanted to see in beautiful Prague. She shared her love and knowledge of architecture and took us by car to some places on the outskirts, including the cemetery where Kafka is buried (which in addition to the deep meaning of many of its memorials has unique art nouveau tombstones) and the Church of the Heart of Our Lord [not quite remembering the name as I write this -- sorry] -- a modernist church. We also visited and learned about the architecture of other remarkable churches, buildings, and concert halls. At our request, Barbora left us at the end of the tour at the Church of St. Cyril [again, not the full name], where the heroes who killed Heydrich were apprehended. I fully recommend Wittmann Tours. The office staff was professional and reliable and the guides were phenomenal.

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

We booked a tour for four persons with Sylvie Wittman for a walking tour of the Jewish Quarter. We went to the quarter for lunch earlier and Sylvie arrived exactly on time as planned. She is very personable and we enjoyed our time with her. Her knowledge of the district is excellent and beyond compare. We were not all Jewish, but the tour was just as interesting for all of us. I highly recommend Wittmann tours!

“Do the Jewish quarter with a Jewish company”

I am not Jewish but doing this tour with Suzie, who had personal understanding and stories made it a much more real and powerful experience. Highly recommended.

“Excellent tours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We used Wittmann Tours for both Terezin and the 3 hour walk in the Jewish Quarter. Excellent. Vida was able to bring her family's personal experiences during WWll into the discussions during the day. The day was even more meaningful with Vida's insight Janoush as a student of theology and also a resident of Prague was knowledgeable about his city especially the Jewish Quarter. Both Wittmann tours were small enough to have an intimacy and be able to ask questions. Wittmann Tours is an excellent choice!
