“Perla Hotel Prague”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

This hotel is in a great location and reasonably priced. The bedroom - and the entire hotel - was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent, as was the service. We were there in very warm weather in July and the aircon in the room worked great. DH and I had the inevitable conflict as to whether to sleep with window open and no aircon (his choice, but the downside was quite a bit of noise from the street below). But with aircon on and double-glazed windows closed (my choice) all was peaceful and cool! The taxi driver who picked us up when we left told us that it used to be 'a place for cheap girls'! You would never guess it! I would stay here again, and recommend it.

This hotel is in a great location, a very close walk to the Old Town Square but enough off the main road to get a quiet nights rest. The staff is so very helpful with everything. We left our hotel very early in the morning for the airport and they packed a beautiful breakfast to go for each of us. They look after you very well and the rooms are extremely comfortable, good air-conditioning and a wonderful breakfast included.

I have travelled to this hotel for business or leisure repeatedly for the past couple years. Every time I was there I thoroughly enjoyed its location, cosy breakfast restaurant that always makes you feel like staying a little longer and having another cup of tea/coffee before you go to work, comfortable bed and good bathroom. And every time I appreciated its closeness to all sights and night life of Prague, coming back late at night from after-work events or just going out in the evening to meet friends. Rooms are always clean, staff are friendly and their café on the first floor is an excellent quiet place for a business meeting. I greatly recommend.

You can't beat hotel location right in the middle of old town. This makes this hotel worth staying. On top of that they have nice rooms with comfortable beds. Very good air conditioning. Very nice, modern looking bathroom and what is most important very clean. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. I agree that staff at the reception could be friendlier but that goes to all european customer service...
I highly recommend this hotel nevertheless.

Great, modern hotel in a great location. Beds were very comfortable, although 2 single mattresses with separate sheets and duvets.
Breakfast was good, and the wifi is free with a very strong signal. The shower was a smaller wand type, but with decent pressure, however the glass partition was nowhere near big enough and ended about where you would stand, so the floor would end up quite wet.
The staff at reception were a little abrupt and could be friendlier, and no one spoke to use when we were having breakfast.
Overall, a great hotel and we would happily stay again.

In the great capitol of Tsjekkia was a great pearl of a hotel we were lucky to experience. Two smiling receptionist when we arrived, a nice and clean room with high standard gave us a great start to a week in Tsjekkia.
Woke up to a great breakfast table every morning and a nice good morning from the all the staff. The scrambled eggs (a must at a breakfast in hotels) were to wet, but the variety was so good that it did not make a big difference. They breakfast service, as the rest of the hotel, was great.
Even asking for a taxi as we were checking out, they managed to get the hotel-car by 10 minutes to drive us to the airport. It was the same price as a regular taxi.
Next time we go to Prague - we will stay here. This hotel we really can recommend.

Room Tip: Had rooms towards the street in the 3rd and 4th floor. Traffic in the morning because we had our win...

The hotel is located about 30 minutes for the hotel and is in a fantastic city centre location. The entrance is very unobtrusive (blink and you’ll miss it).

First of all let me list the positives. The location as I mentioned is excellent. Everything is literally a few minutes away by foot. The area is reasonably secure at night, but like anyway in Prague just be vigilante when out walking. A number of times I noticed some pickpockets tailing my wife. Once they notice you observing them they tend to shy away.

The room itself is impressively modern and clean. Rooms appear tripled glazed and sound was never an issue (and we faced the square). Overall I was impressed with the standard of the room and truly felt it deserved the 4 star rating.

Now the negatives, I booked a double room, however the bed was two single beds push together with a double sheet over them. As a result it was quiet uncomfortable. Instead of a double duvet we received two single duvets which I thought was very strange.

The staff in the hotel were quiet rude and abrupt, most notably at breakfast time. While breakfast ends at 10.30, staff members were removing the breakfast bar from 10.10, and gave funny looks to any people entering or eating after 10.

The people at reception could also be a bit cold and not as welcoming as I’ve found in other hotels. The first point of contact really sells the hotel and the frontline staff just let it fall short in their non-friendly manner. It almost felt like I was inconveniencing them each time I spoke to them.

I heard of some guests having problems with key cards becoming deactivated during my time their but that never happened to me but it may be something to watch out for.
Overall, I’d say this is a good hotel with amazing potential but they have significant shortcomings regarding the friendly manner of their staff and the quality of the double beds.
If I return to Prague I would probably give this hotel a second chance.

Room Tip: Room on the 3rd Floor

Thank you very much for your comments about the hotel. There are several clear instructions for improvement. Especially service and welcoming staff is something we must present automaticaly. Also you motivate us to buy 6 large matrases to some rooms. It is definitelly more convenient to get closer to significant other during night on other hand to properly clean under the bed is difficult. But lets give the guest the possibility to select. I wish you all the best while traveling next time. And perhaps, see you one day back in Perla. Tomas
