Our second stay in Residence Karlova. Found everything to be as described on the website. One little thing: the elevator only works with a maximum of two people. It's been both years that the elevator got stuck in the evening and wouldn't move any more which made it impossible to get up to the flat. Fortunately Prague City Apartment Staff has 24/7 availability and solved the situation. Thanks for that. Overall: great apartment, extremely customer-oriented staff. The way it should be everywhere!

Hi Mahlwerk,

thank you for such a great review! We are glad that you found Karlova so perfect for your stay and we hope you had a nice time in Prague! I am really sorry about the elevator problems and hopefully it didn't cause you any problems - unfortuantelly it is not designed to transport big groups of people.

Thank you again for all you positive comments and we hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back also next year!

Best wishes,
Anna

Location, right in the old town and you can walk anywhere from there. Privacy, with your own lift to the floor. It is a well equipped apartment with daily cleaning service. It was unusually cold in late October in Prague and the heating went on and off, we were not cold but were a bit concern. We asked them to check and then was told that the system was in fact fine and had been pre set to maintain at a certain temperature.

Hi Dominic Y,

thank you for taking the time to write us a review! I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in residence Karlova and found the apartment so well located and equipped. I am sorry if you experienced any difficulties with the heating regulation, however the system is designed to maintain a certain temperature (therefore it automatically switches of an on when needed).

We had a wonderful week in Karlova 42. The apartment is perfectly located, a couple of minutes walk to Old Town Square with easy access to all the main sites in Prague center. With two large bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large living area, kitchen and terrace, the apartment provided more than ample space for three of us. We used the terrace almost every evening to sit and enjoy the rooftops of Prague. The apartment is generally well furnished though not overly luxurious. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare snacks and breakfasts (we did not eat in for lunch or dinner). There is noise from the street (Karlova) which is a main thoroughfare for tourists (and partyers at night) but we always travel with ear plugs and generally slept well. The daily maid service was great and the front office staff were incredibly responsive and efficient. We would certainly book again through Prague City Apartments.

We love the apartments. We have now tried three of them, no. 32, 41 and 42. They are well equipped and you cannot hear anything from the streets, even though there are many people walking just outside the house. We will definitely recommend the apartments to friends, and we will come back and stay in your apartments again. Thanks a lot for keeping the apartments so clean and nice.

We stayed at Karlova 42. This is the top apartment, with a roof terrace. It is very spacious, although it must be said there were only the 3 of us staying there. The kitchen area is a little cramped, but with so many restaurants around we weren’t bothered. The biggest let-down was that the satellite TV has loads of channels, but almost no English language channels. If, like us, you like to be active throughout the day and rest up after your evening meal, bring a few DVDs (I think there was a DVD player).

The roof terrace was really good. I enjoyed sitting outside in the evening reading a book, sipping on a cold beer, and occasionally looking around at the rooftops of Prague. You could see (admittedly, only by actively looking for them) the Castle, the Old Town Square Clock Tower, the TV tower (complete with giant babies) and Petrin Tower. They are all quite distant, but that and the sea of red roofs made for very pleasant surroundings. By using the bedroom windows you can send one person up the clock tower and wave at them from the window (bring binoculars or a zoom camera). Silly but fun.

The staff were very helpful. There is online help available around the clock via the WiFi. I asked a few questions and never really had to wait more than a couple of minutes for an answer. A nice touch is the ability to leave your cases in the apartment on the last day, and have them transferred to the offices ready for your taxi at checkout time.

A maid visited about every second day, but it was never intrusive.

The biggest issue for me as a light sleeper was the noise from the narrow, pedestrian Karlova street. To be fair, this was only a problem on Friday and Saturday night – presumably the peak stag night sessions of the week. However, there were periodic bouts of very loud shouting until about 4am. Not aggressive or anything, just loud. “Luckily”, the air-conditioning is very noisy and by leaving that on overnight I could pretty much drown them out. During the day, it must be said the apartment was actually very quiet considering you were on one of the busiest streets in Prague. There is a door directly off the street, and as soon as you close it you get peace.

Being so close to the Square does mean you can get up at 9 am and take pictures while it is still empty.

We walked to all our tourist locations with no real problems – The Castle, The Old Town Square, The Municipal House, Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, The Monastery, The Palace Museum, St. Nicholas Cathedral and the Jewish Quarter. None was more than 60 minutes away, and most much closer. Even the furthest was not an issue as the walk is laways pleasant. Again, getting to the bridge at 10 am is a very different experience to arriving at 12.

There are two supermarkets by the Municipal House, but (slightly sadly) the best is the large Tesco in the middle of town. It has by far the best selection of goodies, including local produce.

We can highly recommend the Three Roses for a meal and a beer. It’s a 3-minute walk from the apartment, but strangely off the main tourist track. The main restaurant at the Municipal House is also very good.

All in all an excellent apartment.

Loved the location and views from both the terrace and the room with no street noise. Plus theres A/C. Management was very responsive when we had questions or concerned. They offer shuttle service to the airport.
