“Excellent Stay - Modern design, excellent rooftop terrace!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Favorites
- The amazing 360 degrees view from the rooftop terrace!
- Modern design and color scheme

Young couple stayed for 3 nights in July. Comfortable beds and great breakfast (bacon included, of course). Easy access to Praha 1 tourist sites - Charles Bridge, Castle District and Old Town Square.

Room Tip: Higher the floor...better the view! 8 floors total. We stayed on 6th floor and had a nice albeit o...

Great location in the New Town on Narodnie Street. From here you can walk everywhere - Old Town, Charles Bridge, Lesser Town, Prague Castle, Jewish Quarter. Tram service is also close by. Small hotel, when you get out of the lift you are greeted with dark blue walls and a central staircase. Each floor has 4 rooms to the left and 4 to the right. The rooms are decorated with deep red shaggy carpet and deep red curtains. The beds consist of two singles nesting together with a doona and soft pillows, quite comfy. There is hanging space, enough room to store 2 suitcases (hallelujah!), a bar fridge and a writing desk. Bathroom served its purpose, towels a bit thin and not very big, but they work. Room size adequate. Substantial breakfast on offer. Wi-fi available free in the lobby but at a cost in our room on the 3rd floor so I didn't pay the additional cost. However, when I enquired about the cost of wi-fi on the 2nd day (frustrating having to go to the lobby), I was informed that internet was in fact available in our room via cable (no cost). Overall a functional, clean hotel in a good location.

If you're looking for a clean, modern hotel for a weekend in Prague, the Design Metropol is perfect. The rooms aren't huge but if you're visiting for a short time and only need somewhere to sleep, it really doesn't matter. As others have said, the breakfast is fantastic and served until late in the morning. We were on the first floor and it was surprisingly quiet. It also meant we could catch the signal of the lobby wifi for free! We found the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. The only downside I could find is that there was no plug socket next to a mirror, so I had to use the camera on my iPad to straighten my hair! (And if that's the worst thing you can say about a hotel, that's not bad going!)

The rooms are small, especially the bathroom is small, and there is no drain on the floor (but in the bathtub, of course). Air-conditioning worked well. The number of the electrical outlets is very limited. Usyally the staff should not get in the guest room, where the "do not disturb" sign is hanging on the door. The hotel staff normally greets customers, or at least meet the customer's salute...

My wife and I stayed here for 5 days in Prague.

The staff were very helpful especially the lady called Jarka on reception. We stayed during the recent heatwave when Prague was experiencing temperatures in the mid to high thirties.

The first room we were allocated was boiling hot but the staff were happy to move us to a different cooler room straight away.

The rooms are clean and minimally furnished with funky furniture.

The breakfasts were generous and freshly cooked.

Overall I am happy to recommend this hotel as it is in a really central location with all of the major sights within walking distance, the staff are friendly and it is not overly expensive.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms at the back of the hotel for a quieter night's sleep.

Rooms on small side, comfortable beds, plastic furniture, bathroom ok, wasn't cleaned very well sink just wiped over, make up I dropped on floor and hair was there for the four days!! No view Tesco and MY department store. Breakfast poor cold on all four days, did ask if could be warmed but staff didn't understand or choose not to, didn't like staff unhelpful, older women on recieption quiet rude, good location for old town, and harbour
Would stay again if price was right can't say its anything more than ok. Don't expect to much, you won't be Dissapointed then..

My weekend coincided with the Prague marathon, so there wasn't much choice, and I wanted to avoid the hostel-type places. The Design Metropol fitted the bill perfectly: unassuming outside (not a conventional hotel frontage) but clean and smart inside; room a perfectly good size; excellent bathroom; all clean and fine quality; breakfast buffet with a wide choice of fruit, meats, cheeses, eggs, bacon, etc. reception & restaurant staff spoke English and were all polite and helpful. All the main sites of interest in Prague are within walking distance. Splendid.
