“A 5 star hotel should have bigger beds....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

The Thalia Hotel is beautiful located on Narodni street, very close to the old city centre and on the other side 150 meter from the Moldau river. Most of the staff members are very young, they look like trainees from a hotel school but they are friendly and helpfull. The breakfast is outstanding. The building itself has a nice atmosphere. The rooms are fine, however, the beds are just too short. Besides that, it is rather poor for a 5-star hotel that you have to stand in the bathtub when you want to take a shower.

Prague is a great city and we surely will come back, however, the Thalia must provide some larger beds, otherwise a good sleep is not guaranteed.

Room Tip: Ask for large beds, stay away from the street side if you want a good sleep

Wonderful location. Really close to the old town (astronomical clock etc) about 5-10mins walk. Trams run right outside. Some super cheap bars dotted down the back streets and plenty of shops and places to eat.

Hotel is well decorated and room size was fine. However based on my first nights sleep it would have got 1* . We had room 109 and was the WORST nights sleep I have ever had. It faces out onto the side street and is so poorly sound insulated! I'm a heavy sleeper but this was terrible. The sound of the tram, cars and trucks on the cobbles, stag parties shouting at 5am, and believe it or not we could hear peoples conversations! Awful. I went down to reception at 5:30 and asked for our second night to be in another room especially being our honeymoon! I was told at the desk by the staff member 'Prague never sleeps'!! Not helpful when I had two hours sleep.

Second night was great. Second floor inside room. No ridiculous noise. Staff were great on many accounts..phoning our airport transfer and helping me phone the airport about my missing luggage on numerous occasions! Really helpful.

Great hotel but refuse the front rooms on the first floor.

It's a shame that European hotels to get 5 stars all they have to do is to have spa and gym (in this case tiny room with few weights). We were looking for some luxury but got an average hotel. It needs some maintenance, the carpets look dirty and you can clearly notice scratches and wallpaper coming off in the room. Overall the hotel is in a great location, very central and close walking distance to all attractions. Breakfast was good too. Wfi was quite fast.

The hotel has a good location. Nice and friendly staff. The buffe breakfast was very good, with plenty of everthing. Good value for money. There was only one armchair in a doubleroom....We will definetively be back.

We found a discount and stayed there for the price of a much smaller room at a cheaper hotel but had the most amazing experience. First of all, it is in a great location (very close to the old town but not noisy at all). We stayed there for 4 nights, the room was gorgeous, we had a large skylight in the bedroom, the bed was big and comfortable and all the amenities were useful, clean and in good condition.
Breakfast buffet had many options from a full english breakfast to croissants, yogurts and many kinds of cheeses and hams. The free wifi was fast enough for the occasional skype call with the family and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. If I go to prague again, I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: top floor rooms have skylights

Nice three (not five at all) stars hotel in a good location and quite a good breakfast. Cleaning quality average, late check in, kitchen closes early in the evening. And no dressing mirror.
TV is also pure and no entertainment channels, even radio.

The hotel has attentive staff with great service. Other wonderful pluses: fast free WiFi, wide breakfast selections with family friendly hours of operation, updated bathrooms, comfortable beds and pillows, walking distance to many sites of interest, bathroom amenities, responsive climate control on demand, and affordable. Some minuses: furniture is worn, lack of decoration, worn wallpaper, some ceiling water damage, no floor coverings, no complimentary slippers or robes. Overall we had a good stay and it was family friendly. I would return.
