“Great location, clean and spacious rooms, good breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2010

Great location, clean and spacious rooms and the good breakfast is a bonus. We would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting a value for money weekend break. The tram stop is just around the corner and the main tourist locations are within walking distance. The only downside is that the beds are hard and you only get one pillow per bed. When we asked for more pillows we were told that we would have to wait until a room was vacated. This never happened.

Large clean rooms, tastefully decorated, free wifi, ideal location for the city, helpful staff. What more can you ask for a hotel. Getting 3 children in the same hotel room is difficult, but not for this hotel, so I would highly recommend this hotel to families which are larger than the standard 2 + 2 family.

Residence Verona gives you very good value for money.
I stayed for 4 nights with a friend. We had only booked for 3 nights but had to extend our stay - our return flight was cancelled due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

Service:
Some members of the front desk staff didn't understand and speak English as well as one might hope. Service was friendly and professional though. When we had to stay for an extra night, we got to keep the same room for the same price and got help and sympathy.

Rooms:
Our standard suite was nice, roomy and clean but there was a slight smell of cigarette smoke.
The suite included a small separate room with a sofa. We used it mainly to store our luggage and shopping bags...
Our (single) beds were quite narrow and had very small duvets & flat pillows. This was slightly uncomfortable.
There was no safe in our room though the brochures (beforehand and in the hotel) stated otherwise. Some basic amenities were also missing (pen & paper, for example).
Internet connection from the room was not super fast, but it was free of charge. Very nice! They also have one computer for the customers in the hotel lobby.

Location:
Very good. You can easily walk to Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square etc. Palladium shopping centre, Kotva department store and the nearest metro station are only a few minutes away.

Additional comments:

Breakfast was simple but quite all right. Coffee (from a machine) was fresh & very tasty.

There was an unpleasant (sewage?) odor in the stairway, but not in our room or elsewhere in the hotel.

Our room was on second floor. There's no lift and we had to carry our luggage ourselves. Luckily we hadn't overpacked :)

We booked our room on laterooms a couple of weeks prior to our visit at a great price of 140 euros for 3 nights.

This was our second stay at the Verona and were not disappointed. We originally stayed about 2 years ago.

The apartments are great, living room, bedroom, toilet, entrance hall and small kitchenette area.

Despite below zero temperatures the apartments were always warm and cosy.

The only complaint I would have is that despite having a 2 ring burner there are no kitchen pans whatever to cook with, so very little point in having the 2 rings. There is also a microwave.

Breakfast was on offer, but we didnt take advantage of it.

The location is about a slow 5 minute walk into the old town with a couple of bars and many restaurants enroute.

Just round the corner from the hotel is a 24 hour supermarket, which is stocked with all the essentials.

Opposite the apartments is a fantastic italian - La Ventola - which has great food at great prices.

Not the same can be said about The Himalaya next to the restaurant. My recommendation would be to avoid at all costs. Its expensive, service and food is poor and decor not great. It was our most expensive meal in Prague - £30 (with wine) for a decidedly poor meal lacking in flavour!

The reception was manned 24 hours a day and very efficient.

If i returned to Prague for another visit I would without hesitation book these apartments again.

i went for a weekend in Prague with my girlfriend in january 2010, great hotel has two separate rooms lounge with tv kitchenette with fridge kettle hob, sink, sofa and dinning table and these rooms are your own not to share with others, its a massive room, separate bedroom room with two single beds pushed together but was fine (requested double bed tho, but didnt get)...bathroom had shower not bath whole hotel decor was clean and modern throughout.
breakfast was included and was okay, good enough for me, was buffet style, toast with choice of jams ham and cheese, yogurt, fruit, choice of cereals, cappucino machine, juices .....it done the trick.
no safe in the room.
clean and warm rooms in the winter

free internet in rooms, and also computer there with free internet
staff very good not very smilely (but not many people are in prague) very helpful with maps directions, tourist attractions and restaurant info, didnt have to even request the info, a very helpful young blond lady on reception gave us all the info we needed when we checked in, including a free city map, big thumbs up to her.

public transport to the hotel from the airport is really easy and cheap, dont wast your money on a taxi unless u arrive really late at night as they cost about 25euros
here is how u get there... in the airport buy a 26czk (75p) public transport ticket from the metro and bus office or from the yellow machine next to bus stop outside.
this ticket gives you 75 minuets of public transport bus meto or tram this is more than enough time to get to the hotel.
leave the airport doors and head for the bus stop just over the road you will see a sign and you get on the bus number 119 to dejvicka (city centre) stamp your ticket in the little yellow machine on the bus, this is the only time you have to stamp your ticket to start the validation of 75 minutes. just a tip try not to sit on the seats right near the doors people leave these for the elderly. this ride will take roughly 20mins
get off at the last stop dejvicka and right in front of you is the the metro underground station go down the steps dont stamp ticket again and take line A (green) towards mustek.
get off at Mustek this is the transfer station, so walk up the stairs and follow signs to line B (Yellow) get on metro in the direction of Cerny Most, Exit at Namesti Rebubliky.
exit the metro station up the stairs and walk straight down the main road and turn right two roads after the palladium modern shopping center and you will see The sign for residence verona, about 5 doors down on the right (6 Soukenicka rd)

Location is great really close to the main square just a 5min walk.
went in the winter january when it was snowing, was very cold outside thick with snow but all pavements cleared and public transport and airports running as usual.
was like -7c so take your gloves , hiking boots, gloves, etc.
the hotel is in the old town which is the main part for the tourist attractions like, the powder tower, clock tower and not too far from charles bridge.
the area is safe and police are out at night, so you feel safe even at night.
beware of pick pockets though, as u would in any big city.

nice restaurants close by, and 2doors down from the hotel is a nice indian restaurant, not much to look at was in need of a re-decor but the food was good and was open till 11pm, the bill also came to less than 10euro each. also a good pizza place across the road...just down the road was a nice restaurant called cleica (or sounded something like that) good traditional Czech food
and steaks etc, and good price.
also try the famous sausages or the curly warm donut things with nuts on from the stands outside.
there is a little supermarket for snacks and drinks just on the main road left of the hotel on the main road then turn right and its just down the road on the left hand side, the staff are the most friendly people we met in Prague and the stuff for sale is not a rip off.
while we where there we went to see ballet (swan lake) was very nice in the theater near the hotel, just a tip pay for the cheaper 700czk seats as it is not a big theater and not much difference in views.

would stay at this hotel again and suggest it to family

i booked with hotels.com and paid 110euros for 2nights which was quite good value for money considering the good location. they charge when you check out.

Stayed for two nights (saturday-monday). Location is just perfect, 5 min to clocktower and just 15 minutes to karlow brigde. The room is nice, quite large and we loved that it was a separate room so we could store the shopping bags:))
The breakfast i OK, just be sure to arrive before 9am - elsewise it is hard to get a cup for your coffe...
Prague was beatiful- we also enjoyed a night at the fantastic state opera (la Boheme). And be sure to try the great czech beer.......

Hotel is centrally located, a 4 min walk to the main square beside restaurants, metro and Paladium shopping centre. Only gripe would be television channels mostly not in English. Breakfast was great as were the staff. Would definitely stay there again
