“3* wannabe 4*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2011

In the middle of communist block of flats seat small ambitious hotel. Although presented as 4* you will soon realize that this is really only average 3* hotel, with all benefits and disadvantages. Room was nice & clean, bathroom had some minor issue. But location is to far fom centre to take a walk, it's almost 15 minutes by car. Whole neighbourhood looks little depressing without any points of interest. Small dinning room placed in underground floor didn't rise atmosphere too. Last but not least, this hotel is pricy.

Room Tip: Do not choose room on first (zero) floor, which have almost no privacy if you want to have opened wi...

This hotel is way out of the centre of Prague, but serves as a reasonable base for the budget traveller. I was travelling as part of a group of 16 other people on a party weekend. If you want a quiet romantic place to stay I would avoid this hotel as it does cater for stag-do's! It is clean, the staff are unwelcoming but efficient and the breakfast is very good. The rooms are pleasant but please do not come here hoping for a room with a view! There are a few very cheap and cheerful local bars in the vacinity which are 1/10th of the price of drinking in Praha 1. This is excellent if your primary objective to have a good time with friends and mull over one too many beers before heading into town. Overall Prague is beautiful, but this hotel looks on to a council style housing block. I you want views, service and splendour pay the extra. If you want simple, cheap and clean with the prospect of the odd loud group...stay here.

The hotel is excellent value if you get the deal I did on expedia, something like €18 a night. The location is good and close enough to walk into Prague city. The down side is the staff are rude and uninterested and the Resturant is expensive and sucks. Saying that I would probably stay there again for the money. All a cheap but average hotel.

There are so many hotels to choose between - why pick this one? It's located out of the city centre, and yes - it's cheap to take the bus or get a taxi, but not worth it. The standard isn't very good, and the breakfast is not much to talk about. I would rather spit in some extra cash to get something else.

All in all; disappointed. Four stars? In my opinion closer to a two stars hotel.

VERY nice staff works there.

Got 2 nights at $50/night for 3 people (1 double bed and 1 single bed) at Hotels.com or some online site like that.

Pretty nice room, good quality - but no shower curtain, so cautious showering was necessary to keep water from spraying/splashing all over bathroom. TV only has 1 English speaking channel (BBC), but who cares, not in Prague to watch TV. Czechs LOVE to smoke, so smoke smell ranged from pervasive (in lobby) to barely (in breakfast room, and on our non-smoking floor).

Breakfast was decent - for a European breakfast. Slightly runny scrambled eggs, yogurt, cereals, granola, fruits, bread, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, not-so-great o.j. I was satisfied with the breakfast, but not full for very long.

About a 15 minute easy bus ride from hotel to main tourist and downtown areas. Easy to and fro.

The wi-fi was about as good as I've ever seen in a hotel.

About 20 minute walk from Prague central or 5 minutes by bus which is okay as your away from the gadzillion of tourists in central that bombard the 9th most visited City in the World. According to Wikileaks, Zizkov district has more pubs and taverns per capita then anyplace else in the World and I believe it.
The hotel is comfortable and clean...recently modernized. Love the stairs...used them more then the elevator. Self serving Breakfast buffet downstairs was great but they should cook the bacon a little longer to make it crispy...not fatty...That's Europe for ya though.
I like how the audio from the flat screen TV's are also piped into the bathrooms...BBC News while brushing my teeth :)
mini bars in room are useful especially if you want to store the cheese and wine you bought downstairs at the little market across the road.
A nice and comfy bar near the lobby or go to the
small pub that is out the front door and around the corner.
I've stayed here on 4 separate trips to Prague and will do so again.

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of Nov. We arrived very late on our first night on a very cold snowy night and were very pleasantly surprised - the hotel is well maintained, clean, spacious in the lobby area. Our room was also spacious, had a large comfortable bed, the bathroom was modern and clean. The heating made the warm very toasty and the thick curtains meant we had the best sleep (used to living across from a lightly lit area so was heaven to be in darkness!).

The breakfast was a buffet style with juices/coffee/tea, breads/cakes, cold meat/cheeses, spreads, yoghurt and cereal. I think it would get a little boring after a while if you were staying for more than a few days but it did the job!

Others have complained about the location - we didn't find this a problem at all. Yes it is a little way away from the centre of the old town, and unless it was summer and you were keen for a walk you wouldn't want to walk the whole way. They are however just around the corner from the Cerninova bus stop - buy a 18CZK bus ticket from any of the tobacco or fruit/vege stores and that will take you all the way into town. End of the bus line is Staromeska metro station, which is 5 minutes walk from the Old Town Square. Buses run until midnight I believe?? We didn't have any problems and never had to wait long for a bus. We bought all our bus tickets when we first arrived, so just used one to get into town in the morning and one home in the evening. They are valid on the metro and tram lines if you need to travel around more though.

The only downside for us was that on our 2nd morning, when we were to check out, there was no hot water....neither of us was game enough for a cold shower when it was only -2'C outside so just went without. I did ring downstairs to reception and they said there was a technical problem and hot water should be back in 30 mins, so we went to breakfast in the meantime. Unfortunately it wasn't back on when we came back up about 45 minutes later and we needed to check out so just went without.

Prague is an absolutely beautiful city and would be my favourite so far in my travels. Very cheap and lots to see.
