“Romantic with a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

My husband and I traveled to Prague as a stop on our honeymoon and could not be more pleased with the service and our overall stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. We were deciding between this and the Four Seasons but we were really glad we ended up picking the Mandarin.

We were immediately greeted when we walked in the door with smiling friendly faces at check in congratulating us on our marriage. We were shown to our room, even though we checked in a bit early. Awaiting us was complementary champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and roses everywhere! Needless to say, this put us in a great mood for the start of our stay here.

The room was beautiful and HUGE. We had an entry foyer, and a big main room with an immense bathroom. Everything was perfectly clean and brand new. The bathroom was all marble and the floors were a beautiful wood. In addition all the appliances were state of the art featuring a large flat screen tv and access to all premium channels.

The location of the hotel is perfect. It is a really quick walk to charles bridge and really all the sites of prague. We walked everywhere, never needing a taxi (though actually we love walking anyway), but you definitely don't need one if you stay here.

The concierge was wonderful, getting us reservations at all the restaurants we wanted and recommended great sites to see.

So overall, this hotel is a winner. Great location, super nice staff, and beautiful amenities. We are very picky and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed ar the Mandarin Prague over the easter period and enjoyed the hotel immensely. Attention to detail was great and the hotel is really lovely with original features, very peaceful and relaxing. Room was large and very nice, comfortable. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

I stayed here twice and found it to be excellent. The service, food, rooms, staff, everything is top notch here. I have stayed in the Augustine too, that's also nice and high quality but not as good as the Mandarin, it's the detail the Mandarin go to that makes the difference and i think they really know how to run a high class hotel well. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: internal facing, not out towards the road or tram line.

Arrived at the hotel after a long, late flight, where I was greeted with a smile and stepping into the hotel just felt like getting home, the team was genuine friendly and enthusiastic. Looking after sorting me out to get the best out of my time in this beautiful city. Room service was great and the Nasi Gorang was excellent.

Great hotel in an ancient convent converted to a fairy-tale-like hotel. Located accross the river from Mala Strana and the Clock Tower Square, sits 3 min on foot away from the Charles Bridge.
Location is perfect. I personally like it better than Mala Strana on the other side of Vltava river. Somewhat fewer hordes of tourists fill the streets around it. Fine bars, restaurants, bistros, and cafes nearby as well as some greatly located at the foot of the bridge.

The hotel. It's rather new, opened just a couple of years (3 maybe?) ago. It's an endless discovery to go from one end to the other. Apparently medium sized, the intricate layout of the old citadel that is today Mandarin Oriental makes for a captivating discovery while wondering through its suprising maze of corridors and passages. You get the medieval feeling amidst all the amenities & comfort of a true 5* hotel. The contrast is fantastic and conveys solid character to this building. You sense the history of the place & of the city of Prague. I resided frequently in many hotels in Prague for the past two decades. This one has no rivals in the hotels i stayed in to date!

The rooms are of great size, well appointed. Bath & shower in one however...
Beds are unforgetable. A/C works perfectly. Staff is great as well, attentive & caring, although minor difficulties in their spoken/understanding English necessitated repeating myself almost every time.
Breakfast is great. I tried their restaurant for dinner one night. Very good, without being memorable. Better try eating out. Czech cuisine is fantastic, plenty of genuinely good places in the neighborhood (not cheap though!) worth eating out.
But hey, Prague is famous for its beer, so make sure you try one of the most popular local brands: Chodovar, Dvorni, Branik, Gambrinus, Jihomestsky, Klostermann, Krusovice, Pilsner urquell, Ryzak, Staropramen, Zlatopramen & of course Budvar (Budweiser).
Dont miss out on meat dishes with a side of knedlicky. Goes well with beer. I guess most Czech dishes are designed to go great with beer.

I highly recommend this hotel for stays up to a week (not inexpensive as one may suspect...but worth it!).

Enjoy Prague!

And I had the chance to get a room on the last floor, with a beautiful view on the castle. It was like a dream, and I liked everything. Excellent room, very spacious, beautiful bathroom. The breakfast was also perfect. Of course excellence had a price, but at the end, I found it quite reasonable as we were a group for 1 day meeting.

I was lucky enough to stay at The Mandarin Oriental, Prague, for a week. It is a stunning building, surrounded by history and a fantastic location close to shops and restaurants but away from the immediate hustle and bustle of the main streets.

We hosted a 4 day business meeting here, all facilities and service were 5*. The events team were outstanding helping to ensure the meetings took place without a hitch. They were also instrumental in organising a city tour, transport and restaurants.

All members of our party are regular 5* travellers and they were all delighted with the hotel and the service.

Room Tip: They have a small number of rooms with original features, such as floor boards and beamed ceilings...
