“Never Wanted to Leave!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012 via mobile

WOW! What a great stay. As every other advisor has said, Kristina is amazing. And believe it or not, the rave reviews still don't do her hospitality, generosity, and warmness justice. She is an incredible host and you can tell how much she loves her city, and how much she wants you to love it too. When you get in, she welcomes you with a coffee, some food, and a talk about the "bests" around Prague. After a flight, that time to relax, breathe, and get acquainted is invaluable.

The location is great - seriously. It is in a residential section, but right down the street is the Andel station which houses the "B" metro line connecting you to Old Town Square area, and trams like the 20 and the 12 which can take you to Lesser Town near Prague Castle. We had gotten a three day public transport pass which was a great investment.

The room was clean, bright, and quiet. I couldn't say enough good things about this place if I tried. In fact, I'm writing this review from the couch of our room at the hotel, because I didn't want to wait until we got stateside to write our review.

Kristina! We miss you. Ok, folks, I can't recommend this hotel enough. I walked in the door and the owner/operator, Kristina, threw a beer in my left hand, a map in my right hand, and sat me down to explain her beautiful city and the best way to "tackle" it. She was extremely helpful and literally JUMPED to satisfy any of our requests.

The hotel is located south of the castle on the west side of the river in a very "local" area near a giant shopping mall and many pubs/restaurants. Perfect place to avoid tourists and enjoy the local vibe. Nothing better than sitting in a bar in which the only english you hear is coming from you! Don't let the map full you, however, the hotel is an easy walk to the river, old city center, castle, etc. Prague is a city best explored on foot and this hotel is a great launching pad.

Oh, try the restaurant next door. Traditional Czech cuisine and the pork knuckle is wonderful. Kristina can help.

Kristina, we really enjoyed our stay because of you. Thanks!

We were welcomed to the aparthotel having ordered their 'taxi service' which was prompt, efficient and a bargain at 580CK - it took all the hassle out of trying to figure out transport early in the morning.

Kristina welcomed us like we were long-lost friends, making us coffee and forcing us to eat doughnuts! She sat down with us and explained the best parts of the city to see and suggested an order to do it in without being patronising - just supremely helpful. Her English is absoutely excellent and she is the kind of patron that more expensive hotels can only dream of employing - the big chains could do with a lesson in customer service from Kristina!

The apartment that we had was clean and quiet on the 4th floor and there is a lift to save your legs at the end of a long day in the city. The shower was powerful and the bed comfortable.

The location was great as far as we were concerned as it's a 20 minute walk to Charles Bridge or a quick walk and about 5 minutes on the tram. This meant that the local area was much quieter than the tourist district which was great. There's a huge shopping complex about 5 minutes walk away with a big Tesco if you wanted to make your own breakfast but frankly, the breakfast that Kristina offers is great value for money with freshly made different types of coffee to order, the 'best toasties in Prague', and encouragement to eat her out of house and home!

We also ate in the Hungry Deer two doors up at night which served great value traditional Czech cuisine in a clean and pleasant atmosphere.

Don't come here if you're after a five star hotel in the tourist district but definitely come here if you want a warm, friendly, helpful, atmospheric, clean and excellent value place to stay in beautiful Prague which is ideally located for exploring the whole of the city.

Room Tip: Being on the fourth floor in the corner meant that we had no external noise.

Up above expectations in all query we had about being hosted in Prague!

Not only the (wonderful) city, the hotel gave us the opportunity to relax in a clean, cheap, organized and homelike place. Very well located. Excellent breakfast.

But there was a special point: the service - specifically "Kristina", the hotel owner.
Very attentive and careful, she gave us primeval tips to enjoy prague to the fullest.

Kristina welcomes you to the hotel like you're family. Very warm and friendly! She's the perfect host...extremely efficient, speaks perfect English, and has plenty of recommendations for sightseeing, restaurants, transportation...

There were four of us staying in an apartment with two rooms; one kitchen/living room combo with a pullout that two of us shared and a bedroom with two twin beds. Kristina gave us four different colored towels, which made it really easy for four adults to share one bathroom. The rooms are spotless, and coffee and tea is included (a broad selection of teas).

Breakfast downstairs each morning at 830am is a great way to start...its a European style buffet with the usual cheese and meat, bread, butter, jams, a few cereals and yogurt. The alternatives are to either visit the local Czech bakery or Paul close by and stand up for a pastry and coffee, or walk over to the old town to find a traditional English breakfast. But for the price and convenience, not to mention the great "toasties" Kristina makes (hot grilled cheese and ham sandwiches), you can't beat her breakfast. Its only 100 crowns!

With only two days to explore Prague, Kristina provided her locals recommendation of where to go and how to get there. We followed her plan and it worked very well. There's free Wifi so its easy to do research too.

For the type of travel we like, the Aparthotel 5 is perfect! I'd recommend it to any travelers looking for a home away from home while visiting Prague.

Room Tip: Our room had windows in the courtyard side and the main road. Opening the windows on the courtyard s...

Kristina was amazing, a born host. She made our stay easy and enjoyable. When we arrived from the train station (after walking in the wrong direction for several kms with heavy packs) she poured us a glass of water and a beer and took us through the map of Prague. She showed us what was worth checking out in the short time we were there and directed us next door for dinner, which was a fantastic recommendation.

Our room was clean and large and incredible value for money. Also, value for money was the breakfast. A large array of food, homemade toasties and proper espresso coffees.

When we left Kristina recommended that we pay for our accommodation with whatever we had left in Czech crowns and make up the balance on credit card, so we weren't left with money we couldn't use later. Just another example of little things she did to make our trip easier.

Would definitely stay here again.

There may be more fashionable places to stay in Prague but if you want to feel as welcome as you do at home, then consider a visit with Kristina. We arrived and were promptly treated to a beverage and Kristina laid out a plan to help us maximize our three day stay. She then surprised us with an upgrade to a larger suite which we found to be spacious, clean and bright with large ceiling high windows flooding the rooms with light. Our apartment had a kitchenette, a TV and a good shower with plenty of hot water and at 65 euros per night was a great bargain.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of Old Town and there is a mall near by in case you need groceries or any other necessities. We walked everywhere although the station to the underground metro is also close by. Breakfast although not included, can be added for a very modest $5 or so. The streets are safe at night and Kristina will ensure you feel at home while you visit all that Prague has to offer.
