“Not bad.......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

Bit off the beaten track. Room and bathroom okay but no mention was given that the rooms backed onto a railway line!! Rather surreal in a lot of ways - somewhat back in the '50's. We got down to breakfast (which was not plentiful) 15 minutes before they were finishing service and literally had to grab what we could as they were clearing it away as we were trying to serve ourselves!! Staff reasonable. Would not revisit

Dear Sue K,

Thank you very much for staying with us and for sharing your review on Tripadvisor. Please note that we have a self-service breakfast and we always close breakfast room at least 15-30 minutes later so guests could finish their meal in relax atmosphere. We deeply regret that we didn't meet your expectations. We hope that you have enjoyed Christmas atmosphere in our beautiful city anyway.

We wish you happy and successful New Year!
Yours sincerely,

We stayed here for a week.
Great value for money: the rooms are large with good beds, breakfast does not lack variety (from blue cheese and custard pie to all the usual stuff like cereal, ham, bread and butter), location is good (city center is 15 minutes by tram or metro or 30 walking) and there's free mulled wine at the entrance, though we were in Prague for the beer.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a bath with a shower if you prefer that, otherwise you may get one with a bath...

We stayed 3 nights (thursday - sunday) in this hotel and we are so impressed!
The hotel is very cosy and clean and such a nice staffs (reception) we haven´t met anywhere for a very long time...anytime ready to help and answer your question, very observant as well...King Charles is placed about 40 minutes by walking from Charles Bridge and Old Town Square, but there there are plenty of choices to get there by public transport (metro station 10 minutes by walking, tram or bus is just 3-4 minutes away and something stops there each 5 minutes). Higlhy recomended!

We stayed here for a long weekend whilst visiting prague. The place is very warm and welcoming and cosy. The room was average and the bathroom was clean. We didn't like the two single duvets on the bed and when the room was cleaned in the morning it wasn't cleaned very well leaving empty bottles around the room.
The breakfast was very average and tasteless. My boyfriend was walking down the stairs and the carpet came loose and he slipped, one of the cleaners just stood there and didn't say anything!! Which we found very rude and he nearly injured himself due to the lack of maintenance. Overall it was ok and very a average

Dear Emma,

Thank you very much for staying with us and for sharing your experience with the Tripadvisor community. Many thanks for your notes regarding breakfast because mostly guests like provided variety. We would highly appreciate if you could send your suggestions on my email (es@kingcharles.cz). All rooms are cleaned daily and all bottles that are in the bin or near of course are also removed. Bottles which are left on the table or around the room are left on their place to prevent any misunderstanding. On request it could be easily took away. It is the same with the duvets: we do provide double duvet on request (as mostly guests prefer two single blankets instead of one big).
Please accept my deepest apologies for incident with the carpet (it's maintained several times a day). Not all our chamber women speak English and she just didn't now what to say as apology. Nevertheless, we hope that you have enjoyed your visit to Prague and we hope that next time you will choose one of our Superior rooms which are more spacious and comfortable. Please don't forget to use your discount for your next trip (if you book via email).

We wish you happy holidays and unforgettable trips in 2014!

Stayed here with my parents, my sister and her boyfriend. This hotel has a discreet exterior but the owners really make the most of the impressive entrance hall. You are also given a welcome drink on arrival. It's only five/ten minutes away from the centre of the town by tram but far enough away from the tourist traps for you to enjoy a good night's sleep. They sell tickets at the reception so you don't have to worry about buying from a machine and there is a tram stop about five minutes' walk from the hotel. Breakfast is good, with a large variety of food (cereal, continental and cooked). My room was on the ground floor so I didn't have to worry about walking up the stairs, but there is a lift, so don't worry if you have a lot of luggage. Restaurants close by offer discounts to hotel visitors and it's a ten minute walk from Vyšehrad Castle, which isn't as well known as Prague Castle and is therefore quieter and easier to visit. My room was reasonably large and had its own shower and toilet. When the staff found out that it was my birthday while I was staying there, they left a champagne bottle in my room with enough glasses for the group, no extra charge, which was a lovely touch. Reception was very helpful and there is always someone behind the desk. My only niggle (not even a complaint) is that I was given two single duvets for my double bed. This wasn't a problem for me but my sister and her boyfriend had the same thing. Not sure if this is normal practice or if they were running low on double duvets. I would definitely recommend this if you want a good quality hotel that is close to the centre.

Room Tip: Attic rooms can be hot in the summer There is a railway at the back so pick a room at the front if...

Dear Starsea82,

Many thanks for taking the time and writing so wide review. Thank you very much for choosing our hotel for celebrating your birthday! We are glad to hear that you liked your stay with us. Thank you very much for notice regarding duvets: we do offer double duvets on request as mostly guests prefer two single blankets instead of one big. But we make sure that next time your sister will have double duvet. We hope to see you and your family as our guest again.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a lot of nice travels in New Year!

A beautiful ideal located value for money hotel. This hotel is situated outside the main tourist area but near enough to avoid high prices and high volume of people with a 5 stop easy tram ride to main area. Receptionist will help you out with tickets. The breakfast is of a high standard for b&b with a variety of foods on offer with a good selection of coffee which you do not always see. We had an attic room which was cosy and very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Attic rooms should be avoided if less mobile or elderly as the very low apex ceiling area is difficult as there is a lot of ducking and diving!! We were fine. Ask receptionist for local restaurants to eat out and the ones they recommend offer 10% discount off the bill.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to family n friends.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of November - very nice place, from the outside it looks very unassuming but very elegant inside. We upgraded to a superior room for 10 euros extra a night - nice big room, comfy bed, nice bathroom and very quiet. Breakfast was included in our rate - every day there was something different in the hot section - eggs, beans, sausages, pasta (?!), porridge and also the usual meats, bread, cereal in the cold section. This hotel is quite a walk from the main town centre as we found on our first night when we got hopelessly lost for a couple of hours - hehe but after that we ended up using the trams to get to the main part of town.
