“Perfect place, great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Much to our delight, the Appia Residences was even better than described. We had the double apartment which suited four people perfectly. We felt very at home here. It is also in the Embassy district so it is nice and quiet. In fact, no loitering is allowed. We could walk easily through the old town on one side of the bridge, across the Charles Bridge and in to the old town square on the other side of town. The breakfast was yummy. I would definitely go back.

Very nice and quiet hotel in walking distance to everything. Petrin park just a few minutes away and great for a run in the morning or picnic. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. The breakfast is very good and served in the attic which is so nice.

Most people gravitate towards the old town when they visit Prague, but this hotel is in lesser town (Mala Strana) set high up the hill in the shadow of the Castle, which is a quieter area, so you get a great sleep, and can still walk to the old town in about 25 mins. There are still loads of nice bars and restaurants nearby, and Nerudova (lovely touristy street that leads to the castle) is 3 mins walk.

The hotel is in the same street as the US embassy and they check cars for bombs etc as you drive up. It's opposite a convent and even the nuns get checked!

The hotel itself is more like apartments. There is not much of a lobby or any lounge areas, but there is a small bar and lovely outside courtyard area. Our room (201) looked out onto this and was quite pleasant. If you had a room higher up on 3rd or 4th floor I imagine you would have pretty views of red tiled roofs. Our room had a huge lounge, big bedroom with super-king sized bed, bathroom with bath, shower and twin basins, and a washing machine! It was beautiful - parquet flooring, high ceilings, all original features. There were tea/coffee making facilities, a mini bar and a safe(no deposit required). Wifi worked well in the room. We were there 3 nights and it was cleaned every day.

Breakfast is great, lots of choice and served in a picturesque attic room.

The hotel arranged our transfers to/from the airport for about £20 each way. Public transport would be way cheaper but it was a nice way to travel, took only 30 mins and we were on holiday after all :)

We slept better here than we have done in ages and returned home refreshed.

It is hard to pick accommodation in Prague as there is so much, but we would definitely stay here again.

Appia is my favorite hotel by far -anywhere. Located off a small cobblestone side street with a huge wooden door that leads into a small reception area, it has the off-the-beaten-path you're looking for in Prague. The rooms are spacious, light, and clean, with large windows covered in sheer curtains that let me to wake up naturally to the beautiful early morning light. (Add some castle bells ringing in the distance, and well, what could be better?!) The two-person soaking tubs are an added bonus! The staff is friendly and accommodating, having gone above and beyond to help me deal with a lost purse on my last visit. And the breakfast - amazing!! Great coffee, always a fresh assortment of meats, cheeses, fruit, rolls, yogurt. The ambience of the hotel and the breakfast room just make me sigh with relief when we check in here. This is my go-to hotel in Prague, hands down.

Room Tip: Corner room (308) was HUGE, tons of light, with small kitchenette. The standard room (307) we stayed...

Great location, friendly staff! If you have a family of four or more, inquire about the 2 bedroom apartment. It was perfect for our family, with all of the space and two bathrooms! Highly recommend this property!

We had four people in a top floor apartment and the accommodation, desk staff, facilities, location in the hub of Prague, room service and breakfast were all top class. When I was first advised of the cost of parking, this seemed high and when one saw the cost to the hotel for maintaining this service I realised it was good value.

Located on a hill below the Castle there was the ability to go for a run in the morning on grass and up and down stairs or slopes. Formidable!

Room Tip: I imagine all the rooms are good as the hotel is quiet in a quiet area. Fans are provided for hot...

I spent a weekend in Appia Residences in Prague at the end of June 2013 with my family.

This is an excellent “value for money” place to stay in Prague. It is very conveniently located and in a very secure area of Prague. It is situated near the Italian, German and American embassies. When you come to your hotel by vehicle – you will be stopped by the US embassy, and your vehicle will be checked.

These “residences” are in fact like self-catering apartments – but our room rates included breakfast. Appia Residences was located within walking distance of some nice restaurants.

The apartment was spacious, clean and adequate for us. It had an entrance hall which led into the dining room/kitchenette, the bedroom and the bathroom – all beautifully presented. The beds were comfortable. We had a sofa bed for the children. Our room overlooked the courtyard.

Breakfast was in another building on an upper floor. The breakfast room had barn-like roof beams and it looked very spacious and appealing. At the entrance of the breakfast room, I noticed a photo of the President of the Czech Republic taken when he visited the breakfast room. Breakfast was very good – consisting of cereals, hot and cold milk, fruit juices, toast, buns and rolls, teas, coffees, cheeses, fruits, yoghurt, fried eggs, sausages, and grilled tomatoes.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. If you need a taxi, they will book one for you to come and pick you up at the hotel. In fact, you should always get a taxi to come to a specific hotel, restaurant or office to pick you up. Otherwise, it will cost you double if you catch a taxi in the streets.

About 200 metres from the Appia Residences is the Alchemist Hotel – which is a grand opulent hotel that you should visit.

Prague is a beautiful city steeped in history. Public transport is not expensive. Most of the people spoke English.

You are better off staying at Appia Residences as it is definitely value for money. I would say that it would beat some of the well known hotel brand names

MAZ MANNAN

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing overlooking the courtyard.
