“Masna 5 and the Prague City Apartments guest service are fantastic.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2010

After a long flight from Canada we were absolutely pleased to open the door to our apartment (#203). Very clean with an open concept living room / kitchen and large bathroom and bedroom which made us feel at home immediately. There was a small balcony off of the bedroom which was perfect for testing the weather outside or taking in the sights and sounds of Masna street.

Location wise it was great as Staroměstské náměstí is a 3 minute walk with pubs and shopping along the way. There is a nice little shop a few doors down where you can grab beer / wine, and Bohemia Bagel is nearby for a quick meal and cheap international phone calls. The nearby Palladium Shopping Centre, along with the obvious, has an Albert Supermarket where you can get anything you need grocery wise.

Along with the above, the guest service is excellent. There is a 24/7 online chat service available to handle any needs, and the main office staff at Divadelni 24 are so helpful it is beyond description. We also felt very safe in both the building and surrounding area.

The only very slightly negative comment we would have is that there is some street noise at night. Keep in mind that it is near one of the busiest tourist areas (we were also there at Christmas), and that the M1 bar is just down the street. All of the positives far outweigh this comment, and if you think the noise may be a problem, request a courtyard room instead of one facing Masna street. We stayed in room #304 upon our return to Prague after a week in Cesky Krumlov and it was much quieter.

We spent a fair amount of time selecting an apartment for our stay in Prague and could not be happier. We will stay at Masna 5, or at the least another Prague City Apartments venue when we return.

I visited Prague with my husband, brother, his wife to be and her brother. We chose Masna because of location and the price. My brother had a marriage ceremony in the main cathedral, which is just a few minutes walk from Masna Apartments and he was a student, so we didn't really considered an expensive hotel.
I was extremely surprised to discover a large clean flat with a big light bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and modern TV set with huge screen.
We stayed on the 5th floor and the young couple with their brother on the 6th floor where they had a double bedroom and additional room for the third person. I wouldn't believe we are getting all this for something like EUR85 per night.
A lovely bakery just around the corner, gourmet restaurant and few other lovely places are literally 2-4 minutes walk, so we had plenty of choice for our celebration.
The flat was very clean, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook for 5 people and the cleaning ladies even did two birds from the towels on the wedding day, so that the young couple had discovered them in their bedroom once they were back.
I am now recommending the place to my friend who are planning to marry in Prague.

We arrived late (9pm) on Oct 5th and stayed through Oct 8th. It was myself, wife, and 2 friends. We had reserved two rooms several months ago.

We arranged for the airport pick-up through the hotel which cost a total of 500 crowns. They were there waiting when we arrived and they took us to the office to check-in before taking us to the apartments. We also arranged to be taken back to the airport as well for the same price.

Check-in - was quick and easy, although neither of us got the room we had reserved online. We both actually ended up with an "upgrade". We ended up with a one bedroom apartment and our friend's got an executive apartment both on the second floor.

Apartments - Both were huge, bigger than some apartments I have seen in the States. We had a main area with a kitchenette (kitchen table and a washing machine), a sitting area (couch and flat screen TV), a small bathroom, and a bedroom.
-bedroom: small in size with a ton of storage space. Huge built-in closets with a electronic safe in one. We found the bed to not be very comfortable and the sheets were a little scratchy...which seems to be pretty common in Europe.
- bathroom: small compared to our friend's room, which theirs was probably double the size of ours. The shower was about 3ft x 3ft. It was hard to move around in but we dealt with it.

The apartment in general was clean, and housekeeping did a good job, but there was signs of not-so-great craftsmanship. The hardwood floors had some gaps between planks like they made a mistake cutting them but put them down anyway. There was a plaster patch job on the wall that looked unfinished along with a poor paint job. Some of the cabinet doors in the kitchenette were not level too. These are just some small things that didn't detract from our stay at all but it was just some observations about the look of the apartment. The rest of overall decor of the apartment was simple and modern.

Noise - it was a little noisy in our room. It was really nice weather those few days so we kept the windows open as much as possible. The windows were large and they opened wide which was nice. However, the street the apartments are on is quite busy. There are also a couple of small bars/clubs next door so you can hear them at times too. The noise was never overly bothersome for us but to others it may be. If you are sensitive to some street noise you may want to request rooms away from the main street if possible.

Location - Great location in the middle of Old Town. It was only about 3 blocks walk from the main square. It is also right across from a nice bagel shop which is great for breakfast or lunch

Overall, for the price, size and location it can't be beat. The couple small issues and observations we had didn't detract from our stay. So in this case the pluses definitely outweighed any minuses and therefore I would definitely recommend staying here if looking for a place to stay in Prague.

We stayed 8 days at this very centrally located apartment and found it clean, light, convenient and with most helpful Reception staff. Nothing was a problem for them and they did all they could to ensure our queries were answered and our stay made as pleasant as possible. In the centre of the mediaeval city it is not a resort but an ideal base from which to tour on foot or by the excellent public transport system. We did not require secretarial services but the free wireless internet service was excellent.

We stayed 5 nights in this hotel. Our room was overbooked, but they solved the problem immediately. we received the penthouse for the same money !!
the location is just excellent, you can't get better for that money. Close to everything.
Nice flat screen tv, internet in the hall. The cleaning ladies even cleaned our dishes and glasses. The room was very big en clean.

Spent 3 nights in Masna Residence and it was a great stay. Booked through the hotel website, which was easy. Also scheduled a car to pick us up at train station (300 czk). The residence only has reception from 8am to noon. We arrived in the afternoon so the driver drove us to their office first. (I think the residence was under the group of Prague Apartment Rental, which have lots of properties in the city). The girl was very polite, gave us the keys, maps and the driver took us to the residence.

There was elevator to our floor. But there was a flight of stairs before you get to the elevator (which I didn’t expect)!!! It was about 14-17 steps. It was ok for us (but prefer no stairs since we had big luggage…) but not sure for senior/ handicap…

Room was really quiet since it was facing courtyard. Spacious room with a small balcony. The room was equipped with modern furniture. Washing machine in bathroom was a great idea. We could pack light! (No dryer but they provided a huge hanger) There was kitchenette with microwave, cooking utensils, teapot and cups etc. However, the cups and teapot were not cleaned very well. The room was very clean when first day we were there. The daily cleaning service… Really depends. I found that the cleaning team didn’t clean the floor well. Especially bathroom. Last day of our stay, cleaning team did a better job.

Location was great: Bohemia Bagel across the street, which offers tasty breakfast in affordable price (I think they open till very late too). 10-15 mins walk to Power Gate, Old Town Hall and Black Madonna. There was a convenience store close by opened till 11pm. Also some restaurants/ pubs on the same street. Another PLUS was the free usage of WI-FI. It was not the fastest but reception was ok.

Overall a very happy stay. And price is reasonable. Will recommend to friends.
