“Enchanting, Romantic Hotel with Fantastic Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2005

We stayed in the attic apartment from 14 - 18 May 2005. The hotel is located in the Old Town Square and is opposite the Astronomical Clock and we could not have booked a better location. It is very romantic and impressive with beams and consists of two double bedrooms and two bathrooms all of which are very spacious. It's approached by about 80 steps and then you enter a hallway so it feels very private and secluded. From the first bedroom there is an amazing view of the clock. It's enchanting to be able watch the hourly procession of the apostles from your own bedroom above and away from the crowds and something we will never forget. The spiral staircase leads to the enormous attic bedroom with lovely huge beams. It was a real joy to stay there. The only downside is the noise from the square that goes on till the early hours but the benefits certainly outway the negative. The buffet breakfast is at next door but one at the Grand Hotel Prague and is excellent and there are great views of the clock and square from the restaurant. I was not sure what to expect before we got there as apart from a few website photos and a couple reviews on Trip Advisor there's not much mention of it but I am so glad we did as it is a delightful, romantic and special place to stay. I hope we can go back soon.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2005

Stayed 3 nights March 4-5-6.

Not really like a hotel; functions more as an annex to next door Grand Hotel Prague, where a copious and delicious breaqkfast awaits you. Maybe 5-6 rooms spread out over 3 floors. front desk is manned intermittently it seems -- you have your own key to the front door.

We stayed in the huge immaculate if rather sparely furnished attic apartment -- 2 bedrooms 2 baths. Soaring ceilings, huge beams, oak floors.

Only negative, of which you must be aware before booking, is the nightly noise of lager louts and football hooligans in the square outside. On the lower floor the double glazing seems to block this noise. But in the romantic upper room the bed is set picturesquely in the window dormer and there is only single glazing, I think. There was a nightly slooshing roar, as of the sea. Earplugs largely fixed this. But initially it was weird, on a frigid snowy Sunday night, to hear British drunks bellowing at 4 a.m.

Room 205 faces the courtyard and looks lovely in photos. Might be preferable for light sleepers.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2004

Stayed at the Apostolic Residence from March 16th to 19th. The rooms have spectacular views overlooking the astronomical clock. We had the attic apartment which are actually 2 separate rooms with on-suite, linked by a spiral staircase. They are tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, have a wealth of old wooden beams and are very well maintained. The only dawback is the noise from the Old Square below, this can go on until 3am! However, the pros far outweigh the cons. The staff are generally friendly and helpfull and I would recommend this place to anyone wanting top rate accommodation in an un-rivalled position in Prague.
