We went for Valetine's and I know people say you get what you pay for but this was cheap and lovely, Thomas on reception was especially lovely....location was brilliant could get around without walking too far...and complimentary wine on whenever you came in should you fancy a glass...thank you for a wonderful stay

Much to like about hotel, namely Central location near old town square reached by No 119 bus and No 26 Tram from airport.

BEWARE .We left the Hotel just after 8am on a Sunday and the nearby newsagents who sells bus/tram tickets was closed .There was also no vending machine at the tram stop so we got on the tram intending to buy a ticket when we changed to the bus at the Metro station.
We were challenged by ticket inspectors and in spite of the time and the fact the drivers do not sell tickets we were fined 800CZk each almost £60 in total. In future buy ticket the night before if leaving early in the morning.

Staff were very friendly and helpful , wi fi, Coffee and Wine was free on a daily basis. The breakfasts were great with cold meats jams etc. plus scrambled eggs , beans and sausages.

The only down side was the very small but clean room and hard mattress.

I would however still recommend this hotel especially for a short break.

One general point about eating out in Prague watch out if you are served unrequested bread they often make an outrageous charge but not as bad as the establishment who charged £1 for ketchup.

Room Tip: Room 45 very small and warm even in February

Dear Jim,

Greetings to Falkirk in Scotland.
I appreciate your review very much.

I´d like to react to your comment regarding transport from Prague Airport.
Our hotel is located in the very center of the city. Going by public transport in Prague is quite easy. You can buy tickets in the machines located in every subway (METRO) station. These are open from 5 am to midnight. The best way to get to our hotel from the airport is by bus 119 which goes to metro station Dejvická on line A. You can take tram 26 but I recommend to go by metro to station Florenc and change to line B and then go to station Náměstí Republiky.

If you prefer easier way, just contact us by e-mail (which is on our official website) and we will arrange your transport to the hotel by hotel taxi ( black limousine skoda superb ) with air conditioning and English speaking driver.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback on work of our staff. We choose our employees very carefully and most of them have been working with us for years. I can say that "we are a family".

We understand that internet connection is very important so we have installed the fastest connection possible. Our WI-FI is really strong.

We can offer our guests free tea and coffee in the lobby and guests are allowed to take these in their rooms. There is also free wine in the lobby.

The buffet breakfast is quite rich. We take great care so that our guests sleep and eat well in our hotel.

There are two types of rooms. The smaller and cheaper ones and bigger rooms with wonderful view of the square.

We have replaced all matresses and reconstructed all hotel areas during winter season. There is a brand new floor in the reception and all rooms, corridors, breakfast room and lobby have been painted.

You can book our hotel for longer stay, in this case I´d recommend booking a Deluxe room, which is bigger.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback.

I am looking forward to your next stay with us.

Patrick

A lovely old style hotel full of character situated in a very quiet square. Great for walking to lots of the main sights, the Old Town, Jewish Quarter, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle etc etc. Also an easy walk from the metro if arriving by plane. Our room was clean and comfortable although a little on the small side, but very good value for money. The breakfast was good with lots of hot and cold choices and there were some surprise freebies like free tea and coffee in the hotel lobby. Staff were helpful and Tom kindly printed our return boarding cards for us. We'd love to go back!

Room Tip: We'd pay a little more next time for a bigger room overlooking the square.

Dear Mrs Anne Elspeth,

greetings to Tewkesbury in United kingdom.

I´d like to thank you for your nice review of your stay in our hotel. We are glad that you registered on Tripadvisor to write your first review.

Our hotel is really old its history goes back to 1850. We have already been running it for five generations and all this time our employees have been doing their best to make our guests´ stays memorable.

There are many sights in hotel vicinity. You can get to most places of interest on foot in a couple of minutes.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from underground station Náměstí Republiky on line B.

We have just finished the complete renovation of all hotel areas including guest room. Everything is neat and comfortable. Cleanliness is our priority.

We change rates almost daily so the best thing to do is to book a room in advance. Just send us an e-mail with period (year and month) when you would like to come and we are going to choose the cheapest rates available. We recommend our guests to book Deluxe rooms as soon as possible.

There are many complimentary services in our hotel, such as internet, tea, coffee and wine in the lobby, safe in room, air conditioning etc.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback.

We are looking forward to your next stay in one of our Deluxe rooms.

Patrick

I do not agree with KELKO29 review. The breakfast is extensive with hot and cold options and as much as you wish for. The staff do seem a little different but this is the way the Czechs come across generally. Do not take this personally we are all different.
Positives: Fantastic beds, so comfortable, food very good and adequate. Fantastic location and never felt threatened walking around day or night. (however beware of pickpockets, we saw some comical attempts by some who were not so good at it) Only a few short minutes from the main square
Negatives: No bottle of wine in deluxe room as expected, safe is not fixed to anything and all of them have a ridiculously easy code to guess should you accidently lock yourself out like we did. We were on the sixth floor and the only fire escape would take you through the middle of the hotel. In other words if there is a fire it doesn't look good.
Go to local pubs rather than restaurants for food, it's much cheaper that way. Generally there is not much choice on the menus especially deserts. My tip go for a salad because where quantity lacks on some of the main meals we had the salads were huge, almost half the price and often had as much meat (chicken). Aim to pay around £5-£8 sterling for a meal including half litre of Beer.
TIP: Go on a day trips out of Prague food and drink can cost half as much again.
We went to:
LITOMERICE on the bus from PRAGUE NADRAZI (1 hour on bus, about £6 sterling). Visit the pub BUDVARKA and drink the real and original Budweiser. It's a real beer without the tasteless flavour and excessive gas seen in the so called equivalent we see in the West. Saying all this I prefer the PILSNER URQUELL but that's preference.
On the way to LITOMERICE you pass through TEREZIN an amazing town which was converted into a Jewish Transit camp during the war. We did not stop here but check it out because the whole place is walled with moats and shaped in the star of David. Scary but it's reality check it out online.
We also took the train from Prague to KUTNA HORA (also about £6 sterling). It has a famous chapel with tens of thousands of skeletons lining the church. I personally hated this but my partner dragged me in. It's very macabre.
We ate in PIZZERIA U SNEKA and were served by a friendly lady. I had a huge salad with 3 large beers and my partner had pasta with chicken and two cokes all for the grand total of 370 Krons or about £12 sterling.

Room Tip: ask about a room lower down as a fire on the sixth floor is not worth thinking about

Terrible place!! The staff are miserable and unfriendly. I was ROBBED of £300 in my room. The old lady on reception made no effort what so ever to assist.
They haven't even got carpet on half of the stairs.
Rooms are awful and the breakfast is vile!!
I would not recommend going to this so called hotel. I'd feel safer and be more comfortable staying in a hostel
