Me and my boyfriend stayed here from the 12th of March for 3 nights. I decided to book the apartment as it was excellent value for money, plus, you have your own bathroom/kitchen and larger than average bedroom come livingroom.
Before i book any hotel where I am visiting, I always check the feedback on Tripadvisor, and Miss Sophies was rated Number 1 out of all the hostels in Prague. I have stayed in a hostel before in Barcelona and I can tell you that sometimes, I wouldnt even consider them a hostel - more of a B&B! I know there is a stigma attached with hostels, but Miss Sophies proved that you can have a 'luxury' hostel at an amazing price!
Situated a 5-10 min walk from Wenseslas Square and 5-10 mins from Vltava River (situated by the Fred and Ginger building). To us, the location was great. It was within easy reach within the main square, but not in the hub of everything -the benefit of this was that you had a peaceful nights sleep in a quiet location. If you are travelling from the airport, get the 119 bus outside the terminal to 'Dejvika' METRO station Line A. From there, get the train to 'Musuem' and change onto Line C. From there, it's 1 stop to 'I. P. Pavlova'. When you are at the exit of the METRO station, you will see 'Price Waterhouse Coopers' ahead of you to the left. Walk down that street and you can find Miss Sophies on the 1st right(the small street opposite the 'Hotel Ibis/Novotel'. Ive attached a picture of the view we had from our apartment window (one of the hotel, and another view).
We were in Apartment 2b on the 2nd Floor. The words 'Habitat' and 'Loft Apartment' come to mind when i think of this apartment. The bedroom come livingroom was massive - it really did remind me of a NY lofthouse apartment - high ceiling and airy space. I liked the artwork on the wall and the modern furniture worked really well with the decor of the place. The bed was EXTREMELY comfortable - had a great nights sleep there! Dont bother with the tele, they are all american movies/programmes with czech language. Kitchen was a really good size with table and chairs (we never used the kitchen, but it's ideal for those who want to cook/eat at the apartment if you are on a budget). Bathroom was again, very modern with an amazing walk in shower! I liked the idea that the apartments had automatic lighting - i.e. If you walked anywhere in the apartment, the lights would come on - then after 5 mins, theyd go off. The security was top notch - a key to the main front door of the building, then a 4 digit security code to Apartments 2a and 2b, and then........a security card to open your main apartment door. So, security is NOT a problem, i felt 200% safe!!
I found the staff on reception very friendly indeed and spoke excellent english. They have free internet access (2 p.c's) which you can access 24/7. They also have a bar/dining area at the basement if you want to have a drink (no bar), or, cook your lunch/breakfast etc (Pic provided). In addition to all of this, the check out is 10am, however, you can leave your baggage locked up in the Baggage Room within the basement - you have your own padlock and key.
All in all, I highly recommend this hostel/hotel/apartment. The security was very re-assuring, the apartment was massively spacious and modern and most importantly of all - it was cheap as chips! During winter - up until mid march, we paid £35 a night for this apartment, so between you, it's a real bargain! (£17.50 each!!) After that - spring/summer, it goes up to £55 I think (check out their prices on their website - www.miss-sophies.com). But still, it's a bargain between 2 of you!
I recommend this place (apartment only), for couples/family/older couples. I wouldnt really recommend it for stag/hen do's, as i think these groups would just cause problems for other tenants/visitors in the other apartments re: noise etc.
I would definately stay here again if I were visiting Prague and i am going to recommend this place to everyone I know who may possibly visit Prague in the future...
