“Best Czech Food in the Area!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

We visited this place 3 times in our 11 day stay in Prague, it was so delicious. The staff and service were wonderful as well, especially considering we only spoke English and were in need of wheelchair access within the restaurant. The food, the beer, the atmosphere...all great! Definitely would recommend this place over Lokal. Far less bar-like, you'll actually be able to have a conversation and hear it.

“Great food at a reasonable price...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

This is a very popular restaurant for good reason. The menu is extensive with many traditional dishes. I was with a large group, and the only time we could eat there was lunch, and we all enjoyed our selections.
My only complaint was that the service was rather slow, and we were burning daylight hours waiting for our meal!
Best of all - the apple strudel!!!

“Good Local Fare”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Kolkovna is chain of restaurants in Prague. I recently had 2 lunches in this restaurant in the Jewish Quarter. It provides tasty local dishes, and traditional fare that is very good....and very filling. The Moldovian "Sparrow" (strangely a pork and garlic dish - not minuscule poultry), the goulash, and the pork knuckle were all delicious, with the latter easily being enough for 2. The traditional dumplings served with the dishes and the fresh cool beer will ensure that you will leave feeling full, though with a desire to sleep for the rest of the afternoon!

“Loaded with tourists”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Had lunch here -- soup and beer, and were drawn in by the listing in Michelin. My potato soup (in a rye bread bowl) was good, but my wife's chicken broth with noodles looked and tasted like Lipton's. Beer (Pilsner Urquell) was fine. I guess that we should not have expected more, considering the location and clientele. The place was packed with tourists - sit downstairs if you don't want to leave reeking of smoke.

“Lunch at Kolkovna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

After a full morning of sightseeing it was such a pleasure to sit in Kolkovna. It is located in a beautiful section of Prague. We sat downstairs since upstairs is for smokers. The food was delicious and the portions were quite on the large size. We shared a platter of Prague ham. It was delicious. I then enjoyed the goulash with dumplings and potato pancakes. The dumplings were a bit dense, but the goulash was just fabulous. Extremely tender. My husband enjoyed the duck. It is such a large portion that he was unable to eat everything that accompanied it. But, he said it was delicious. The waitstaff were efficient. My husband had the Pilsner Urguell Beer which he enjoyed. I had a nice glass of red. The menu is very extensive and there is something for everyone. I definitely recommend this restaurant which is in the heart of the Jewish Quarter.
