We stayed three nights at the Alchymist Grand Hotel, across the street from the U.S. Embassy in Prague, and a five minute walk from the Charles Bridge. Our two deluxe rooms on the third floor were uniquely furnished, with wooden beams across the ceiling and descending almost to the floor. We had to be careful not to have an unintentional encounter with a wooden beam. Our rooms were rather dark, with small windows that looked out over a neighbor's apartment. One of the two rooms had a regular shower; ours had a narrow bathtub with a convertible hand shower that was hard to regulate without spewing water on the floor. The buffet breakfast was included in our rate, and had a fair selection of offerings to choose from, but it lacked the typical European pastries that we had come to enjoy. The staff could not have been nicer, and was ready to assist us with our every need. Go to the basement level of this 16th century building to wander through the amazing spa, the pool, and fitness room.
