“Great + Comfy Beds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2007

Was a good location, and a good value overall. Typical small european rooms, but clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful when we had questions. Location is good - not right in the middle of everything, but everything is still easily accesible. I would reccommend it

Stayed with my wife at Dante Alighieri one week ago. It's in a good location, 100 metres from the next tram station, 500 metres from the subway. There are nice restaurants nearby, but in some you need to speak Czech.

The hotel is still under re-construction. There is ongoing work both outside and inside the hotel. Some rooms are not finished yet (we were allocated to one of them). We had no curtain at the window, but an additional very old bed. This made the room even more tight that it already was. On both sides of the bed, there were about 25cm from the wall.

When we arrived, the hotel was over-booked. For the first night, we were taken to a private room, by far not matching the standard of a hotel. Nevertheless, they charged us the full price for that night. It took a long discussion to persuade the guy at the reception to move our luggage from the private room to the hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Dante Alighieri Prague only this week and feel compelled on our return to warn others NOT to stay and if possible to cancel A.S.A.P.
On our arrival we were greated by foul builders (spitting!) and a skip outside the hotel. We were even more unimpressed on entering the hotel to find that this continued to be the case inside (brickdust everywhere!!)
The staff and manager were friendly and apologised for the disruption but assured us that the building work was only downstairs so we continued to our room.
WELL!!!! The room was tatty, tiny and nothing whatsoever like the info we had (I would find it impossible to find an area of this hotel that matched up to its website pictures apart from the bathroom which was excellant and clean). the double duvet was two scruffy singles put together and there were numerous holes in the bottom sheet.
We stayed at this hotel for only one COLD!!! night (the room was freezing, it was -9 outside!) and left.
This was a long awaited romantic break for us ruined and we continued at great expense to enjoy the rest of our stay in fantastic Prague at the Hotel U Zlateho strmu (The Golden Tree), which was more expensive but worth the money. (We have never stayed at a more comfortable hotel EVER! and you can see "charles Bridge" from the hotel window) I would recommend this Hotel to anyone, its central location saves money on transport alone!)
We are still awaiting our PROMISED refund from the Hotel Dante Alighieri(apparently they didnt have the correct security codes for the card swipe machine to conduct a refund when we returned).
We wont hold our breaths!!!!!!!!!!!!
