“Not really five star!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We were fortunate to have Room 206, a beautiful large room certainly good enough for a family of four. It is a shame that the breakfast is so poorly presented however and that all but the youngest and least experienced waitress lacked interpersonal skills. Some management needed in the breakfast bar, I think!
What a wonderful city that should be the tip of everyone's list of city breaks.

We spent 3 nights at the Iron Gate for our trip to Prague to celebrate New Year. The staff were friendly, professional and extremely helpful. The rooms and facilities were excellent and couldn't have asked for a better location - less than a minute to the Old Town Square. Would certainly recommend, especially suitable for couples.

Beautiful boutique hotel in a perfect location, 5 step away from the old town and 5 minute walk from Charle's bridge. Do not expect the usual "grand hotel" venue, as the hotel has been built within an ancient medieval building: the resulting coziness is one of the highlight of the place. We spent 4 nights there, and really enjoyed the perfect location. Friendly and helpful staff, clean suites, be prepared to intricate and very steep stairs if you get one of the roof-top suites (ask before, as they are really not advisable for people with handicap or limited mobility). Plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. Due to the building structure, do not expect to find a swimming pool, a fitness center, and similar amenities. All in all, a beautiful experience.

Room Tip: Roof-top suites are beautiful two floors (and two bathrooms) suites, but you have to deal with very...

We have stayed at this hotel four times now - it's such a lovely venue, and very handy for visiting the sights. The beds are comfortable, the rooms clean and welcoming, staff only too pleased to help. Only thing that could be improved is the food, but there are plenty of places to eat out in Prague.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra for a nice quality spacious room

Absolutely unbeatable location! And very charming rooms, although a tiny bit awkward with challenging lighting in bathroom and bedside. Charming old building will have some drawbacks! Lots of stairs to the fourth floor, so be prepared or request something lower. Very quiet rooms, plenty of space. I loved opening the casement windows onto the rooftops of Prague.

The one drawback for me: the very friendly staff often provided me with wrong info or no info. My advice: if you need support from your concierge, stay elsewhere. Some examples: : 1) wrong metro stop for the O2 Arena, 2) wrong info on showings at Estate theater - front desk told me there we nothing, while there were three performances during my stay. Unfortunately I didn't walk past the theater to discover this until it was too late; 3) no local restaurant recommendations. Yes there are many restaurants right outside the hotel, but most are tourist traps. (FYI - u tri ruzi Is nearby and tasty food, naturally great beer); 4) no info on how to take metro back to airport (note: yes, you need a ticket for your luggage, 16Kc as of Nov 2012). When you are alone in a new location for a short time, these things matter! I really wanted to like this place more: maybe they will read and adjust. :-)

Very good hotel in an excellent location. You can walk to everything. We had a junior suite and were upgraded to an even larger unit. The rooms were spacious and very nice. Service was good. There is a resaurant but it closes early, however there are many good choices nearby.

The Iron Gate Hotel is in a perfect location for seeing the old city of Prague. Within easy walking distance of the Old Town Square, it is on a quiet side street just far enough away from the action that the noise of the evening is absolutely minimal, if you want to retire earlier than most. A great choice for both business travelers and tourists, it offers internet service and serves a very nice breakfast (included) as well as has a lovely restaurant in its cellars for evening dining. I recommend one of the Junior Suites, which has adequate room for a longer stay. Although the price is higher than expected, the location more than makes up for it, especially if you only can stay a couple of days. All in all, I recommend the Iron Gate.

Room Tip: Get ;a Junior suite, which can be a king or two twin beds, with a separate bath an a living room are...
