I didn't really know what to expect from Prague. I knew it was very old and straddled a river but that was bout it. I am glad to say I was knocked out by its beauty, friendliness and atmosphere. The old city is rich in history with nearly all the buildings having Baroque facades. Must see places are Charles Bridge - go early to avoid the crowds - the Castle complex takes a whole day at least, Old Town Square - love the food stalls - and you need to go up the town hall tower for great views (there are lifts all the way up!) - Old Town, Kampa Island, and the Jewish Quarter. If you really love museums and art galleries then it is worth investing in a Prague City card which gets you free or reduced admission to many of them as well as big attractions. It also includes a 2 hour bus tour which is well worth it as it helps you get your bearings and spot other places to visit. It is quite a small city for tourists and we found it easy to walk everywhere. Away from the Baroque of Old Town you will find the Art Noveau of New Town with a great deal of work by Mucha, his museum is worth visiting. I also recommend a boat trip with a meal and music, it was the perfect finish for us. Make sure you carry plenty of small change for public tiolets which vary from 2CK to 20CK to use. I could write reams about how lovely this city is but it wouldnt be enough. Just go and visit for yourself.
