“Very satisfied”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

This hotel has an excellent location just steps from I.P. Pavlova metro station (two stops from the Central Station) so no need for a rip off Prague taxi.

I arrived at 10 a.m. from an overnight train and was able to check in right away. The room was
spotlessly clean and large. I was given two bottles of complimentary water which is always appreciated. The room contains a safe but no tea/coffee making facilities which is pretty standard for continental Europe. There is no minibar facility in the room, but the fridge is still there which is great for storing your own drinks and snacks. beverages and snacks are available for purchase at reception, where there is also a computer available for guest use.
I was given a Wifi code at check in, though.

The only two small criticisms I have about the room are the soap dispensers in the bathroom instead of bar soap and shampoo, and the poor assortment of TV channels. A notice advises that management is moving from analog to digital TV, but in a 4 star hotel that should be a given these days.

The breakfast is adequate with a good selection in a large enough room, and the staff replenish as needed without asking.

All the receptionists were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, and all spoke flawless English.

Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, and I would gladly stay here again. Maybe the TV selection will be digital by then.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the back. The hotel faces onto a main street with much traffic.

The Hotel Raffaello is close to the main station and I recommend walking a bit uphill though. The reason is the fees the taxi drivers charge. I was told flat fee 25 Euro for a 1m drive.... Anyway arrived and was pleasantly surprised and the cleanliness and friendliness of the hotel. Reception guy name started with a V excellent service and we stayed in a suite on the top floor which had a mezzanine bedroom and bathroom. Room was warm and comfy but a little dated in carpet and bed. There was a hand held shower in the bath which was practically useless unless you are 3' tall. We did have a kitchen and a fridge but no kettle or crockery or anything else. Not sure what you were supposed to do with this space.. We felt very comfortable in the room bit tricky on the stairs in socks though.

Room Tip: Word of warning here. the lifts open between floors so you will still have to climb or descend stair...

I was unsure what to expect as this was my first venture into a former soviet country and had heard all sorts of stories in relation to stag parties etc. but I loved the country and the hotel certainly added to that. Situated just a 100 metres from the underground station,(I.P.Pavlova) it was easy to find and great for getting around. The decor was certainly eastern European which added to the holiday feeling rather than a corporate stay, and the staff were brilliant. There were some parties staying but they caused no distruption and breakfast was ample, if not luxurious. The building was in need of some TLC as carpets were stained in places but the rooms were clean and everything worked as it should.

We had four nights here in October 2013. After booking on laterooms we looked further at the hotel website. For 5euro per night we upgraded from a double room to a family suite apartment. The room was fantastic! At the top of the building and over two floors we couldn't ask for better. The nicest room I've stayed in in this price bracket.
Plenty of selection at breakfast.
Friendly service throughout our stay.

At the price you cannot go far wrong with Hotel Rafaello. Friendly staff, comfortable room, tasty breakfast, excellent location near tram and tube and walking distance from city centre. As always, you get what you pay for so don't expect 5* all out luxury - its a 4* star hotel - but ideal as a base to explore Prague. If you want gym, pool, cable tv etc you'll have to pay more and go elsewhere. We thought it was ideal. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: 402 was fine

Lovely little hotel, situated a 5 min walk from Wenceslas Square (for averagely fit people!!) Room was comfortable, cleaned daily and the heating definitely worked!! Breakfast was typical continental breakfast and coffee was hot and plentiful in the morning. Staff were lovely and extremely helpful. Staff were kind enough to mind our bags on checkout day to save us lugging suitcases around all day. Although on a busy main road it was very quiet.Would highly recommend this hotel for a short stay in Prague.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

I had a 4 night stay in this hotel.

Location is really good, central to the city, less than 5 mins walk to well priced bars and restaurants.

Maybe a 10 min walk to the old town unless you are like me, then maybe 20 mins with photo stops and detours.

I was greeted by a great concierge/manager? 'Vaclav' each morning he greeted me and made me feel welcome. He also recommended a few places for night life. Couple of good music spots and I ended up having a good time.. Even made some new friends who were also traveling that weekend.

His recommendations were good because he also told me which places to avoid as they could be risky for tourists. So it was thoughtful.

Breakfast is good, coffee is there, lots of variety.

The room i had was quite spacious with a double bed. It was close to the reception so i could hear the front door activity occasionally, but it was clean, and for the price i was satisfied.

The staff were friendly. Met the cleaning lade and the cook, i think its a humble hotel when it comes to the staff, they do well on what I would say is a skeleton crew. (Bare minimum of staff).

So there is a small courtyard out back I don't know if there is smoking allowed inside but I don't think so. All smokers seemed to step onto the courtyard.

I remember that a particular gentleman wanted a particular kind of tea which the hotel didn't have. Vaclav ran out to buy some for the mans breakfast. Three teabags as o recall ;)

So yeah, good place, good location, o thought it was reasonably priced. Quiet otherwise for a main street and super close to transport. I walked everywhere, but the transport would have you seeing everything in great timing.

Enjoy!!!

Dear Valued Guest,
thank you for posting your comments about the recent experience you had in our Hotel Raffaello.
It is very rewarding for us to read that you appreciated all in all our hotel: location is convenient both for tourists who want to enjoy Prague by walking and for tourists who prefer to move around via public transportation.
I am very happy to forward to Vaclav your nice words and it is wonderful to read that you were well suggested also for the Prague nightlife.
I would like to point out that our hotel is non-smoking as you were thinking and smoking is allowed in the courtyard or anywhere out of the property
We hope to welcome back soon in the future and in case of a future return, feel free to contact us directly.
