“We would stay here without a doubt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2011

We were guests at the hotel for 4 nights and would highly recommend it. The rooms were comfortable, nicely decorated and clean; the staff courteous and helpful. The location in the Mala Strana area just down the hill from the castle was convenient for sight seeing. Across the street from the hotel is a charming tea shop that blends their own tea, a good spot to relax in the afternoon. Our stay at The Golden Wheel was faultless.

The kudos below are justified. The location couldn't be better--about a 10 minute walk to the castle and not much further to the Strahov monastery, Laredo, Schwartenberg and Sternberg palaces, Charles Bridge, and other sites most visitors will want to see. Good, though touristique, restaurants down the street (The Devil, Three Violins). Beseda may be a better bet.
Very nice, spacious room, attractive decor, renovated bathroom. Loved the wood beam ceiling. If you're sensitive to noise, you might want to request a room at the back of the hotel, as there's a lot of street noise early and late on Nerudova. Staff was great, friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff can't do enough to be of service - very friendly and nothing is a trouble (thank you Robert...). We were on the first floor at the front. It was hot and we had all of the windows open all night so you could hear folks walking past and the early (light) traffic.. if this would trouble you ask for a room at the back ..or take ear plugs!
The hotel is in a great location and is only a slow 10 minute walk from Charles Bridge and even closer to Prague Castle.
You really must try the Old Bohemia beer - but be careful - it is strong! The Pind Indian restaurant is 5 stops away on the metro (maybe 15 minutes) but is well worth it if yu love authentic indian food.

The Golden wheel is very well located hotel at Nerudova street which is one of the finest streets in Prague just under the castle and ending close to the famous bridge.

Hotel is small in an old building but just renovated very nicely. Breakfast is served next door in a small cafe and is good.

Free very fast internet is a good bonus.

Place is quite an expensive but look for discounts - from their webiste you can get a good discount if you stay more than three days...

Room Tip: Choose room fas high as you can

From the moment we arrived tired from a long train ride from Berlin, the staff could not have been more accomodating or friendly. The hotel is a lovely mix of old world charm and sophistication. The guest rooms are furnished with contemporary lines that are welcoming and comfortable. Assuming you don't mind a walk up hill, the location is perfect for exploring the city on foot. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Prague wholeheartedly. Enjoy

I stayed six nights. I was given a room on 4th floor and there was no lift to the room. Whe I requested for a change to another room where there was lift, I was told that they cannot change because the hotel is full. The lift was only up to 1st floor and I had to climb 3 floors all the time. So there are rooms in the hotel where there is no lift and be sure that either you get the right room or be prepared to climb up and down.

We arrived on December 27th and was expecting to find a wonderful hotel after reading some of the reviews on here, luckily we were not disappointed in anyway.

The first impression of the hotel was wonderful with gorgeous xmas decorations on all floors and beautiful decor.

The room was huge with a good size ensuite with a good powerful shower. There was plenty of wardrobe space and mirrors so there was no fighting about getting ready for a night out.

There was a personal safe to use in the room, along with tea and coffee making facilities, a mini bar and a hairdryer.

Tea is provided free of charge but coffee is priced and is part of the mini bar and comes in a sachet with milk and sugar added. I wish I had known this (which is the reason I am mentioning it) as I would have taken some of my own as I drink only black and its quite expensive to buy in the local shops.

Two towels each were provided which is adequate but they arent that big and as someone who likes a bath sheet I wish I had remembered to take my own.

The bed was comfortable and the hotel provided one pillow each, but one quick mention to the friendly reception staff for extra and they were quickly provided.

Breakfast was a plentiful and tasty buffet with different types of breads, cheese, ham, cereals, fruit, yogurt, eggs, sausgaes and fruit juices with a plentiful supply of tea and coffee.

There is free computer to use in a beautiful little study are on the 1st floor, which we found useful.

The hotel is situated 1/3 of the way up the hill towards the castle area and is a 5/10 minute walk downhill to the Charles Bridge.

The area is quite busy during the day but pretty quiet at night with plenty of restaurants and bars to keep you going for a short stay.

The beer inthe area surrounding the hotel was definitely a good deal cheaper than in some of the bars within Old Town square etc, which kept hubby happy.

In all I would definitely stay at the Golden Wheel hotel again, having stayed in many hotels all around the world this has to rate as one of the best, well done to all the staff who look after this fantastic hotel so well.
