“BEAUTIFUL VIEWS OF THE TOWN”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

In the 10th century, 70 years after the establishment of Prague Castle, the church of Peter & Paul and fortified trading post, were built on a cliff top overlooking the Vltava River, on the heights of Vysehrad. The views are really beautiful especially at evening with the lights on.We had snacks and beers at a cafe in the area.We went there as a group, with our bus but is easy to reach, taking the metro.Nice experience.

“Worth The Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

Great architecture, beautiful streets and buildings and a lovel restaurant at the entrance. A great place to walk in the sunshine and admire the surroundings. A must along with Prague Castle and Charles Bridge.

Go there! Easy access and a flavour of what Prague is all about. See the views and the memorials to Bohemia's great figures.

“Away from the crowds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

Just a short walk from the metro stop of the same name,Vysehrad is a nice change from the touristy center. Great views of the city and the river, a quiet cemetery and old castle walls make this a great place too visit.

“Stunning Interior to the Peter and Paul Basilica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

Like others, my wife and I found this a great place for a peaceful walk in the historic fortress and much less touristed than most of Prague. However what makes this one of the high points of any trip to Europe ( and I have been there over 15 times) is the stunningly beautiful and powerful frescos(?) that cover every inch of the interior of the church. Painted by Frantizek Urban and his wife Marie in 1902-03 they are an art nouveau masterpiece that is a tribute to their mentor Anton Mucha (who is buried in the cemetary). While I had previously dismissed much of his work as sentimental pictures of pretty girls and flowers, the undeniable emotional impact of the work exceeded and expectations I may have had. We would visit Prague again, simply for the privilege of spending time here. The entry fee of 30kc is a ridiculous bargain.
