“Away from the crowds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

Away from all the crowds of the city centre we spent a relaxing morning at the cathedral, viewing the cemetery and sitting in the park with the monuments.

“Peaceful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

Very nice area without the tourist hordes of the city center. But only during good weather. Some nice views and big lawns.

“A must”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

One catches the underground tram to Vysehrad from the Wencelas square underground stop--2 stops. From here it is a short to Vysehrad--most of it can be walked around and see for free--except 2 underground bunkers--one which houses the originals statues form Charles bridge. We did the free walk and sites--which was well worth it. The grounds are good to walk around, there are immense statues in the park and the church still stands--the only building not destroyed in the war like the castle. Best of all--here is where the famous graveyard is--where famous artists, poets and writers are buried--we saw Dubrovnik;s grave. Because these were artists the graves and statues are artistic and is it really worth visiing it. There is a café where one can get snacks and drinks outside--and one in in the small information centre,

“Take a step back in Vysehrad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

Only 20 minutes away from central Prague via metro (including walking), Vysehrad is a beautiful place, perfect to take a stroll, or enjoy the view of Prague (and visit Mucha and Dvorak). Despite being so close to central Prague, it is not as crowded as other tourist spots are. If you are in Prague for only a day or two, perhaps not enough time to visit this lovely place, but if you have some time on hand and looking for a quiet place to absorb yourself in history and scenery, this is the place to go.

“Prague foundation & the Prophecy of Princess Libuše”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

Vyšehrad is a magical place. It is now ruins of a castle where the founders of Prague lived 1000 years ago. Princess Libuse once had a vision and ordered her staff to find a man, a carpenter, in a forest who will be their future leader and a city to be established there. She than made her famous prophecy: "I can see a great city whose glory shall reach the stars". People who deal with energies know that Vysehrad is of the feminine nature (yin, if you will) and the Prague castle is of masculine energy (yang). There is a direct line of sight between the two. Even if you are not into these kind of things, a trip to Vysehrad is worth it for the views, the cathedral, the park and the cemetery of famous Czech people such as artists.
