Owner description: One of the symbols of Prague, the Church of the Virgin Mary Before Tyn is the dominant feature in the Old Town. The church was built in the 14th century and used to be a primary place of worship for foreign merchants visiting the city.

“Entrance is hard to find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

If you are in Prague, there is no question that you will want to go into this church. It looks really cool from the outside so you will be curious. There is a building with shops and restaurants built directly (and awkwardly) right in front of the church. You need to enter through an arched doorway next to the restaurant. Check the opening times before you go- it is closed on Mondays and closed at lunch time.

“Almost Disneylike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

More impressive from the outside. not as impressive inside as some of its neighbours . For impressive external looks you can't get much better than this! Its spires tower above the buildings which obscure its lower structure but from every angle you can't miss it. Its beautiful lit up against the night sky.

“amazing spires; nice interior”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

This church actually replaces an older building from the 11th century. The present 14th century church has the most amazing spires that are visible from many vantage points all over Prague. While the entrance can be a bit daunting to locate (tucked in a small arcade near the front of the church). it is well worth the trouble to visit. Like all the churches in Prague, the interior is beautifully appointed with a mix of Gothic and Baroque design. Even if for a few minutes, take the time to enjoy the inside.

“Nice on the outside but disappointing inside.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

It is almost impossible to find the entrance to this church, which is surprising, as it dominates the skyline of the old town.
The church dates back to the mid 1300's and has a Gothic look to match.
While the church is beautiful on the outside, upon entering it, we were really disappointed as it was poorly lit and looked quite neglected.
To top it all, a no photography policy is strictly enforced – no idea why.

“Beautiful church, worth a look”

Beautiful gothic structure. A nice escape from the crowds of the Old Town Square. Definitely take a look.
