“Noisy but Fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

Booked this hotel because we made our plans to visit Prague at the last minute and had never been before. Since we were interested in Czech beer, what better place to stay? We were not disappointed. The room was pricey but we did get the last one so that was expected. They seem to have better deals with more advanced booking. We did get one of the new rooms and it was beautiful. One of the largest we have ever had in Europe. There was also a very quaint view of the winding streets below. Only problem with that is there was no air conditioning (or it wasn't working) and if you left the windows open, the noise from the street below was very loud and constant since the brewery pub stays open quite late. If we closed the window it got very stuffy. A fan to move the air would solve that issue. The staff were all very accommodating both at reception and in the restaurant. We were provided a welcome beer upon check-in. It was excellent. The food in the restaurant was very good and well priced. The breakfast was more than sufficient. Everything was very clean. The location could not be better. It was about a 5 minute walk to the Old Town Square and across the street from a Tesco Department store where you could buy light snacks and drinks as well as clothing, toiletries, etc. We were also about a 5 minute walk from Wenceslaus Square. We would love to visit Prague again and would most likely stay at U Medvidku again but request a room off the street.

Room Tip: If you are traveling when the temperatures are warm, request a room off the street.

Hotel U Medvikvu, www.umedvidku.cz. Here is a rave review by my GF and me. We have just spent 3 glorious nights at this hotel. The location is centrally located, walking distance to the main attractions, restaurants & public transport. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean, and the service is outstanding. It has free wifi and the hot buffet breakfast is included. The friendly concierge helped us book our hotel in Trebon & arrange transportation. The hotel has it's own brewery, pub & restaurant. We highly recommend this hotel for couples, families and anyone else looking for a great place in Prague! The value is worth every Krono, you will save money staying here.

Centrally situated with a very busy restaurant attached in which we also had a good, solid Czech meal. The week before we arrived, a lift to the second floor was installed and new rooms opened. The room we had, 102, was well furnished with a good bathroom. Breakfast was a self service buffet with a range of cereals, fruit and cooked food in the form of sausages, eggs etc. Well recommended.

I was intrigued by the idea of ending our tour of Eastern Europe over a brewery! And that is what it is, a hotel with an incredible array of rooms, all very different, over one of the oldest breweries in the Czech Republic. As has been mentioned, there is no elevator in this hotel but the rooms are not so far up that it isn't manageable. Our room was quite large, very comfortable, with two bathrooms, one with toilet and basin and one with shower and basin. Very thoughtful! This was the one hotel where we booked a four-person room, for our family of four, and one room for my husband and myself. Management was very accommodating, and all in all our visit to this bit of history was fun. To add to the pleasure, the breakfast room was directly under our room so just a brief jaunt down the stairs and we were there.
The location is quite good, not too far from the Charles Bridge and the Jewish Quarter. Actually a very nice time.

I always like to search for a long time before i book my hotels wherever i might go and this hotel was great! The rooms were clean on arrival and the maid cleaned the rooms daily very well! They also arranged for us a pick up from the airport to their hotel for 25€. The breakfast had everything we needed and was also very tasty. The best was the place the hotel was situated as it was exactly in the center of Prague and all the atractions we wanted to visit. There is a tram station exactly outside of the hotel and most attractions are in walking distance. The hotel stuff were also very helpful in everything we needed. The hotel was excellent and very cheap. Highly recommended!!

No lifts but it is an historical building and the top floor is not that far up, even for someone of my age, and you can ask for a porter to carry luggage. Smoking not allowed in rooms but is in corridors. Rooms comfy and with character. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast predictable but fine. Location is brilliant, half way between National Theatre and Wenceslas Square. I do stay there at least once every year.

Room Tip: Ask to face street

still as nice as always , only downside was renovations going on so hammering and drilling started at 7.30 am until 6 pm so if wasn't up it woke you up or if you went back for siesta couldn't get much sleep. Close to most places you will want to visit in Prague.
