What a gem! Rooms are conservative in style, but very comfortable. I stayed in the suite and also in one of the standard (not deluxe) rooms. I was satisfied on both occasions.
This place is not really a hotel - there are only a few rooms, and they actually share the building with a few regular flats. But there is a tiny reception area and a lounge/breakfast room. The building is historic, but not in a cold way, it is very cozy.
Thus Domus Henrici is somewhat similar to some other fine establishments in the same area. Golden Horse, which is only a street down, is more of a 'residence' (the rooms have kitchen corners and the reception is only occupied at the time of expected check-in or departure); it is also the cheapest. Dum u Velke Boty (House at the Big Boot), a bit further down in the valley, is an upmarket B&B with a very genial owner family.
Domus Henrici has one great advantage over these three - the views. From your room or one of the terraces (not all rooms have views, but all lead to one of the two terraces) you have a calming view of the Petrin tower and the park below. And as you exit the hotel you are looking directly at the spectacular Prague Castle, just a two minute downhill walk.
The place is very clean, beds are comfortable (the one in the suite is really nice). Staff is completely unobtrusive but efficient.
Two issues mentioned in the previous reviews:
Access: you can walk from downtown, which, yes, is a relatively steep climb, taking 20-25 mins from the nearest tram stop (Malostranske namesti). However, the walk leads you up one of the most picturesque streets in Prague!! So you should not really compain. Alternatively, you can take the tram to the other side of the caste, from where the walk is 15-20 mins, a very gentle climb, and also very picturesque.
Bells: yes, you can hear the bells from the nearby monastery on some occasions but this is not such a serious issue. You can also hear the gentle bells of Loreta, playing a melody. If you take the suite, though, you will not be bothered at all, as this is extremely quiet.
If you are picky you can find some small issues. In my case I did not like the fact that there were only German TV channels available, plus CNN and MTV and a very grainy Czech TV. But you are not going to watch much TV in Prague. On one occasion the milk at breakfast was slightly off, but this was rectified with apologies within 10 seconds of me saying so.
Anyway, overall this is a superb place. What's more, at current discounts (due to economic crisis) Domus Henrici is a truly amazing bargain. I really recommend it.
