we have not been told that the tram wasn't on service, we arrived there with a heavy luggage walked all the way up. All staff were nice except for one name Linda, she is very rude! One day the hotel was out of water due to construction and when we ask the reception (Linda) what happened with the water she said nothing, no apology for inconvience, we actually went to friends place to use thier toilet and shower. Oh and the towel is like a sand paper! I would not recommend this hotel.

I just had to write something down to dispute all the bad reviews about this hotel.

On our first big trip to europe, my friends and I flew in from lovely santorini. Prague was our first mainland european city. We 3 girls arrived here at 8am, 2 degrees C, cold and shivering and having "slept" at santorini airport the previous night. At first we were confronted by the unfriendly reception lady who wasnt helpful. But then the manager, Miroslav came back from his morning walk with his german sheperd and allowed us to checkin straight away. And because checkin time was suppose to be 2pm, the standard room we booked wasnt available yet so he put us into a bigger and better room. On top of that he kindly " invited" us to have breakfast with him once we were settled into our room. ... At first we were confused by what "invite" meant but soon realised he offered us to have breakfast for free even though it wasnt suppose to be included on the first day's stay!

We are very grateful for Miroslav's kindness and the staff's lovely smiles that greeted us on the next 2 mornings when we came down to the breakfast room. It was a hotel but we got a very warm homely feel.

We also realised about the reception lady that it was only her tone of voice that was rude... She was very helpful answering our questions about the city and organising our tours. In the end we had a good laugh with her too.

Ours was a corner room with one huge main bedroom fronting the street and a smaller (kids) room fronting a side street. The place was clean and tidy. The facilities were good. The breakfast was a buffet of fresh fruits, yoghurt, cereal, cheese, hams etc... coffee and juice

... lovely hotel at a great price!!!

  • Liked — The manager Miroslav & Breakfast staff
  • Disliked — the old cranky lift was slow... but its old and charming

DO NOT TAKE THE 5 TRAM FROM THE TRAIN STATION TO THE HOTEL AS INSTRUCTED ON THE HOTEL'S WEBSITE! Due to the construction area, the 5 tram's route has been completely modified and does NOT stop at Lipanska. Maybe it will again in the future. Much smarter to take the subway (the red line is available at both train stations and then switch to the green line at Muzeum) to Flora and walk down the hill (about 10 min walk). The 9 tram also stops close to the hotel (about a 5 - 10 min walk) but I don't recall the name of the stop.

Considering the 44 EUR/night price for a double room in Prague in high tourist season, the hotel is a very good value though if you sleep with the windows open and face the street, it can be noisy due to the construction (probably explaining the unusually cheap rate). I asked for a room with two twin beds since I was meeting a friend and we actually got a spacious suite with two rooms, a bathroom, and little kitchen. It felt clean although some of the furniture could use slipcovers, the towels aren't soft or replaced daily, the safe wasn't especially safe looking, and the shower head could have been replaced. But considering the price per person was the same as it would have been at a youth hostel in a room full of strangers, this was a great bargain. The breakfast was more than sufficient with rolls, bread, danishes, a choice of cereals, yogurt, cheese and meat, jam, and coffee and tea. If you don't mind sacrificing style and fluffy towels or staying across the street from a sex shop (it wasn't threatening in any way) and not in the exact middle of town, this is a good choice.

  • Liked — the large room and the very low price
  • Disliked — considering the price, i really can't complain about a few minor things.

We had very difficult time finding the hotel, the receptionst is very rude, although we certainly had alot of laughs about her. Our stay ended up being wonderful. This was buy no means a luxury hotel but the room was clean, nice shower, towels terrible but could be overlooked. There is so much to see in Prague the only time in your room is to sleep & shower. The breakfast area was clean, plenty of food. The hotel is not center city but the tram stop is right out front. Found a local restaurant with great food and extremely inexpensive.

  • Liked — Great rates & clean
  • Disliked — rude staff

Having read some positive reviews on this website about this hotel I was confident that the hotel would be of a decent standard. How wrong I was !! This hotel is of a hostel standard , extremely basic with the thinnest sheets and hardest towels I have ever had the misfortune to experience. In fact they were so hard we had to buy our own. We had booked for a five day stay and the bathroom and bedroom were not cleaned until day 4 ! Disgusting. The duvets were threadbare and the 'double bed' was two singles put together , uncomfortable and not conducive to a restful night. Only had the buffet breakfast one day as it was in cramped area and most of the food ran out and wasn't replaced. I would not consider the location to be central. It is a good 25 minutes walk from the center of Prague and while there are trams every few minutes, there would be a tendency to get taxis at night which is a nuisance. Prague must have better to offer.
