“Bargain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for a stag do. 23 of us, stayed in tripe rooms, worked out an absolute bargain!! Yes we had to get a tram into centre but cost next to nothing and was extremely regular and reliable, we flopped out of a bar at 5am
Straight onto a tram back to the hotel! Beds aren't the best and towels are rough but for the money you pay it's great!!

I've stayed 2 night with my wife. The first thing comes to mind about this hotel is it's exceptiaonal breakfast. The breakfast is just awesome compared the rest of the hotel. Rooms are small with high humidity, towels are very harsh and the bathroom is very tiny. But location of the hotel is goog indeed, very close to tram station. The hotel can be recommed for short stays and for it's good money/value ratio.

Good hotel for those who travel alone. Location is ok, tram stop is very close to hotel. My room was tiny, only for one person. There were small frige, cupboard, little TV, teapot and small table. Shower and toilet fit on about 1,5m2. Room was clean, bed is comfortable. Don't choose room that close to street (very noisy because of trams). Breakfast is good. This hotel has adequate price for it's quality.

I think for this review I have to bear in mind we paid £25 per night so wasn't expecting the ritz. Location wise it's slightly out of the main tourist centre but tram stops are right outside the door and is only 4 stops away. An hours journey from airport with 119 bus then change to 26 tram.
Staff are friendly and fully English speaking.
Breakfast is simple continental breads, jams, yoghurts, cheese, ham, cereal and good choice of teas. ( vegetable soup and frankfurters also available). Rooms were clean( but don't look under the bed!!), sheets were tatty but clean. As everyone else has said towels are hard but clean. Full size fridge which is handy.
Overall we couldn't complain at the price we paid. If you're looking for frills then this isn't the place for you.
This place could really come up to scratch with a lick of paint, some new towels and sheets and putting tea and coffee sachets and mugs next to thr kettle. Shame the manager couldn't invest a little.

Was meant to stay 2 nights and 2 nights on a boat but the boat cancelled our reservation after we had arrived because of flooding, hotel Golden City shuffled things around and allowed us to book the 2 extra nights and stay in the same room. Room was a good size and comfortable, Hot shower, hair dryer, kettle, fridge, Microwave and TV, if i had to to have a moan I would say its the smell of smoke in reception, (there doesn't seem to be a indoor no smoking policy in Prague). I saw several complaints about the breakfast on this site although I don't know why, there was 3 types of flavoured water and tea and coffee, several cereals, 3 types of bread, cheeses, hams, jams, honey and chocolate spread, also some cooked items and yoghurts and a toaster. The ladies in the kitchen were very friendly and helpful. There is a working lift and also free wifi in fact wifi seemed to be free everywhere in Prague. Tram stop is nearly right outside, tram tickets can be bought at reception in hotel or in grocery shop at tram stop. The Centre is 4 stops away and trams run up until midnight and there are plenty of them, Hop on Hop off bus costs 680CZK but I would suggest buy a 24hr tram ticket 110CZK and a map and hop on and off tram - so much cheaper. Airport from hotel - tram 26 to Dejvická then bus 119 to airport, tram ticket covers tram and bus cost about £2 takes an hour, (tram numbers may change) Would also recommend George and the Dragon (british bar) and Caffery, Irish bar next door both have good food, old town square.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front are noisy when the window is open due to the traffic, maybe ask for a back room i...

Stayed 3 nights at €106 in a single room with 2 single beds (pushed together). Room had mini fridge and electric kettle. Smallish ensuite bathroom (dont bring your cat) with strong hot water. If you can handle budget then this is a solid option. Small supermarket 2 doors down and nice little Chinese restaurant just down the road. Reception staff friendly and helpful and reasonable free breakfast. Wifi worked perfectly in room. Location pretty good with 4 stops on the tram (10 minutes) into the old city (or 2 stops to the main train station). The trams outside the window were part of the background noise for me but take your ear plugs if this might be an issue.
