“Short winter break to Prague”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

We had a four night break in Prague in February staying at the Hotel Pav which is in the old town area.
This hotel is quite quirky having been extended from it's original size and has three different lifts that go to separate room areas.
We were initially put in a smoking room but changed to a non smoking one without any problem.
The staff are very friendly and the bar area is small but very clean.
The room was larger than some We have had and was basic but clean and quiet the bed was very large and another pillow each would have been nice.
Breakfast which was included in the price of the break was unlike any I have ever seen at home or abroad with a choice of the usual serials and toast but also soup, pasta, cold meats and Czeck apple pie and hard boiled eggs.
There are many places to eat at reasonable prices but the samll restaurant next to the hotel has very good food and the decor is really interesting with lots of old instruments etc. on the walls.
the hotel is well situated for all the main attractions like Charles bridge and Old town and like others we walked everywher the weather was very bright and although it was cold it was nice
just to wander about in this very friendly city.
We will probably use the Hotel Pav again if we go back to Prague as the hotel is good and the location is very good

Room Tip: If you require non smoking request this at the time of booking

We stayed at the hotel Pav for three nights. The two single beds pushed together was the only thing we did not like. The staff were helpful and friendly at all times. Free wifi was an added bonus. Breakfast finished at 10.30 and there were varied items on offer, including soup, potatoes and some things you would not usually associate with an English brekkie.
Free storage of luggage before your room is ready, and after you have booked out, is another plus.
We walked from the station to the hotel. Not reading the map correctly made this journey over 30 minutes long. With cobbled streets and pulling suitcases this was a little challenging. However, with the help of some locals, one of whom actually walked with us to show us the way, we finally got to the hotel. The staff smiled when told of our experience and explained that the station was about a four minute walk away.
We walked to Charles Square and to Wenceslas Square. Each took about 20 minutes. Later when we felt more confident, we took a tram. Great fun for us.
Reading about the 90 minute transfer tickets before we went, served us well as we made our own way to the hotel from the airport. Total travel time was just under an hour, using one bus and one train.
We would stay at hotel Pav again and was happy to say this to the staff there.

Room Tip: Rooms on the third floor are non smoking. Ask about double beds. We didn't and got two singles p...

We are a couple in our 20's and stayed at the Hotel Pav for 2 nights. Our hotel room (room 211) was huge with lovely big windows. The only downside was the 2 single beds pushed together with a single duvet each. Ask reception staff for a tea tray (free of charge).
The hotel has a bar which we didn't use. There are a few bars on the same road as the hotel which were a little noisy at times. There is a restaurant if you turn left out of the hotel its on the corner about a 30second walk. Very good food.
The hotel is in an excellent location we walked everywhere. It's about a 10-15min walk to Charles bridge and the old town square.
We had breakfast included in the cost of our stay which was great. Plenty of food and lots of variety.
There is a luggage room to leave luggage which was handy. Free wifi in the rooms just ask reception staff for password. Staff spoke good English and were very helpful.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

My boyfriend and I have just got back from a 4 night stay in Prague. The hotel was fantastic, very clean, good sized rooms, lovely staff and excellent value for money. It is only a short walk from Charles Bridge and perfectly placed for seeing all the sights, plenty of small traditional bars close by with lovely food and cheap cocktails! Would definitely reccomended this hotel!

Cannot fault the PAV, we arrived early morning and got our room straight away (even though the web-site says check in from 2pm) We were asked to provide credit card details as part of the guarantee for the room ( a lot of reviews we read before we arrived said that the card was demanded from them) however as we did not have any credit cards and this was no problem.

The room was he same of a standard of a travel lodge or similar which was nice, clean and spacious for two people (something we expected on arrival) so if you want something special pay a bit more money for a different hotel, however the location was excellent and looking at some of the locations of some of the higher starred hotels I would choose the PAV over them any day.

Prague as a city is fantastic with lots to do, a little bit more pricier than we expected but beer is very good and cheap!!

Overall we would return to the PAV again even if they serve risotto at breakfast as there is a lot of choice.

This is the second time we have have stayed at this hotel and it is still the best value hotel we have found on all of our European travels! We travelled in February as a couple and have found this is a good time of the season to get a good deal. The interior of the hotel is simple, modern, clean and fresh. The reception staff are polite and helpful and I even got my request for the same room we stayed in last time!
The room was a double and a good size compared to more expensive hotels we've stayed in. The bathroom was clean and modern with a simple but powerful shower. The heated towel rails were handy! There is a modern flat screen tv. You can also request a kettle for making coffee or tea if you need to.
Breakfast is included and still bearing in mind what we paid for the hotel it is perfectly adequate. There are however no fried eggs or omelettes and a few of the dishes are slightly strange for breakfast! (Pasta, soup and apple pie spring to mind!) Pancakes were lovely though and the service is to a good standard - if something was empty you just had to mention it and they'd bring more out.
The location of the hotel was fantastic for us. Close to the river, it's only 5 mins from the National Theatre if you want to watch an opera (which is what we had planned) and a 10 min walk to the Charles Bridge leading to the main market square in one direction or the castle in the other. Wenceslas Square is also close but a bit of a dump compared to the other areas (in our opinion). The only problem you may find is that the U Fleků brewery is just next door to the hotel which could get quite noisy in the summer - there's no air conditioning in the room so if you have a room on the road side it could be a problem if you open the windows (but it was quiet when we went).
Overall the hotel does exactly what is says on the tin. It's not a 5* hotel, but what it does do it does well and at such a fantastic price!!
Tip: If you want to try an atmospheric cafe with reasonably priced meals nearby, try Cafe Louvre just up from the National Theatre on Národní. Situated above the Reduta Jazz club and opposite a bland KFC restaurant it is like going back in time and does the most amazing hot chocolate ever!
