“Great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2011

I went to Prague for a weekend with friends. We shared a suite which had enough room and comfortable beds for each of us. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The cost is reasonable for the type of room and location to the sights. There was also gated parking, which was appreciated. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I have traveled to Prague twelve times since 1989. We love the city, we love the people and we love this hotel. We found it by accident in the late 90s while searching out antique shops in the area. It is family run, and the building was returned to the family after the fall of communism.
All you could want in a hotel is found here. Quality friendly staff--no request is too difficult. The rooms are spotlessly clean and attractively decorated. The bed linens are the whitest and most crisp you will find any place. We always have a room overlooking the small garden in the back--no noise. No weird lights in your eyes. Simply a fresh room to return to at the end of the day.
Breakfast is superb. Fresh breads and pastries, cereals fresh fruit, yogurt, many selections of cheeses and meats and veggies, eggs, toast etc. You can ask for an omlette--we did not--who needs it? Each day we would ask the staff to make our dinner reservations, which is still a good idea in such a busy city as Prague.
The hotel is located one long block from the 22 tram that runs you EVERYPLACE and a few blocks from the metro. If you choose to walk--you are 15 minutes from Wenceslas Square. The hotel is in a neighborhood with a medical school and hospital--perfectly safe. The hotel is down a small incline--so its location is not recommended for anyone with walking or mobility issues in our opinion.
When we come to Prague--we stay here. Period, end of story.

Room Tip: Facing the garden is nice and quiet. All are served by a lift.

Excellent Hotel in all respects. A beautifully renovated house in a beautiful city that is a pleasant 15 minute walk to Old Town and one block away from the #22 tram that takes you to Prague Castle. 5 minute walk to the B metro which takes you to the airport. The room was a comfortable suite with great bed and bathroom amenities. Breakfast was plentiful and superb with local breads. The staff was terrrific and very helpful. Highly recommend and I will return.

We loved everything about this hotel (service, size, amenities, cleanliness) except for 2 things:

1 - the beds were a bit uncomfortable. The mattresses were thin and seemed like foam and were covered in this corduroy fabric that you could feel under the sheets.

2 - the location wasn't perfect. It was located at the bottom of a hill (tricky with bags) and is about a 5-10 minute walk to the closest tram (little longer for subway stop). In a town where taking the cabs is a risky/expensive endeavor, being just a little too far away from public transportation is a bit annoying. It's a 20-30 minute walk to the main train station. The last couple blocks to the hotel are a bit too secluded at night.

To reiterate, the service was flawless. Every single employee was friendly and extremely helpful.

As a geologist I travel a lot, and have certain views on the quality of accommodation. One of which is a chance to have a good sleep without being troubled by noise from the streets or neighbours. Hotel 16 u Sv. Kateriny provided me with comfort for all nine nights I stayed there. I came to Prague from Australia for the annual Geochemical Conference, so my choice of the Hotel 16 was initially based on its location halfway between the old historical centre and the Congress Centre in Vysehrad. It is only 15-20 minutes walking distance either way.
The hotel combines early 20th century features (like “grandfather’s” clocks) and modern facilities. I even had a study room with a desk, armchair and coach, and a free (!) high-speed Internet and Wi-Fi. Everything is so clean and neat here, and the staff is most helpful and friendly. I also enjoyed morning meals, especially a variety of freshly baked bread.
In conclusion, it is the best accommodation I ever had.
