Excellent hotel. Moved to this hotel after two nights in a shabby hostel with no hot water, so definitely an improvement ;). Seriously, it's really close to the metro (which will take you into town in 15 minutes), the rooms are clean, the breakfast is nice, the staff is friendly etc. plus we booked really last minute and it was the same price as the horrible hostel!

Stayed here a couple of times, its definitely not luxurious but it is great value for what you pay compared to alot of places in Prague.

The metro is literally outside the door of the hotel and will get you into the centre in 10-15mins.

Only real gripe I have is there outrageous bar prices something like 70cr for a beer, I'm sure this is probably par for the course in many hotel bars in Prague. But if you go to he adjoining bowling alley its nearly half that and even cheaper like 28cr if you are brave enough to venture to the locals pub 'Restaurace Bella' opposite the tube station.

A bit further out of central Prague than I would have prefered but there is a metro station across the road and it only takes about 15 minutes to get to the Muzeum stop - and 30 minutes to get to Mala Strana. We bought a 3 day pass from the 'tabac' on the hotel side of the station platform. The Metro system is clean and efficient with a frequent service, and it felt safe even at night. We had a small 'suite' on the 6th floor by the lifts which could have been a bit noisy but wasn't if you shut the 2 internal doors in the room. Though we did get some noise of running water late on the first night from the 'service' rooms next door to ours. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The staff were helpful but weren't the most smiley bunch I've come across. The self service breakfast was plentiful with lots of options - you won't go hungry. The hotel is used by a lot of coach parties but, apart from occasionally seeing large groups (often youth football teams) of people assembling in the lobby, this didn't affect us. The coach parties appeared to be housed in a separate wing of the hotel and they had their own dining/breakfast rooms. Individual guests (like us) had a separate breakfast room. The sofas in the lounge were pretty shabby and quite grubby. You can leave your luggage in a safe room on your last day. There is an information desk where you can also buy metro tickets. We didn't use the bowling alley or the pool.

Room Tip: Avoid the coach tour part of the hotel if you can. Room 601 is near the lifts but is a big room. Jus...

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Duo from 23rd July to 26th July. The accommodation was pre-booked using my Avios points so we didn't pay the full rack rate of 2,400 korunas per night ( about £80.00) advertised at the check-in desk.
We asked for a room on one of the lower floors and were offered a twin on the first floor but opted for a double on floor 8. This room overlooked gardens and had distant views of the city. Without inside knowledge, the room looked as though it had been recently redecorated and the bathroom was spotless. The hotel ensures any defects are speedily rectified by providing a report form which is hung on the outside door handle. We tested this on two occasions and a light bulb was changed same day as was the holdback hook for a curtain!
The "minibar" was empty on arrival and this was mentioned at reception. Apparently the service no longer exists but the fridge is useful for keeping drinks etc. cool.
There are two lifts plus an "emergency" lift serving each tower. These can get over-busy at peak arrival/departure times and it's a long haul down the stairs - even longer on the ascent!
The hotel consists of two enormous tower blocks in the form of an "L". It looks daunting but it does offer comprehensive services. Contrary to other posters' observations we found the staff coureous, friendly and helpful, especially the lady at the Information Desk (beside Reception) who went into great detail describing the best way into the city and how to get there. We bought 24 hour public transport passes at the desk for 110 korunas each. Remember to get these tickets time-franked the first time you use them.
Due to the distance from the city centre and apparent lack of local eateries we chose to eat in at the Folklore Restaurant. There's a reasonable choice of Czech and International food and prices tend to be much the same as in the UK. Most Czech main meals are served with dumplings which resemble doughy slices of bread - not to everyone's taste. But when in Rome............! If lagery drinks are to your taste wash it down with Pilsener Quenelle.
English is understood and spoken by the Reception staff and less well by the catering staff. Menus are in English as well as other Continental languages.
Transport into the centre is easy via a newly developed Metro line (Red) and the modern station (Strizkov) is just a few hundred metres from the hotel.
If going back to Prague we would probably select a hotel closer to the action in the city but Hotel Duo couldn't really be faulted.

Room Tip: Room 813 was quiet and well away from any roads.

Missed our flight back to the US, so we booked this hotel via Hotwire, which had it listed as a 4-Star...not even close.

Our previous hotel was in the city center and so my children and I thought it might be cool to stay in another part of the city since it would be for one night only anyway.

The only major plus is that it's across the street from the metro station.

The hotel looks old and dated. The room is small and dated. The restaurant is dated but the food and service was OK for the breakfast.

Paid a very low rate but I would not stay there again.

We were a group of about 40 people traveling in Europe reached the Hotel on 8th July for
two nights stay. The accomodation was booked by M/s Thomas Cook from India. We enjoyed
our stay very much.It is a very large hotel especially useful for group travellars. The rooms
are very spacious compared to European standards, very neat and clean.
The breakfast spread had a lot of choice. The bar had variety of drinks and snacks.

Room Tip: ask for non smoking rooms

Our group of highschool students stayed at this hotel whilst touring in Europe. It was one of our favourites having free wifi in the lobby, a bar, bowling rink, pool and pizza restaurant. Rooms were squashy but clean and maintained. AC worked. The bathroom was a little dirty and the shower floor gross but manageable. The buffet at breakfast and dinner was sound howeve it was difficult to find spare seats to sit and at times were told to sit on the floor. The hotel takes a lot of groups of all ages. Lifts can take a while due to this so if u can walk up stairs it is recommended you do! It's a bit out of town but there is a metro and taxis available
