In a word, disappointing. Overpriced. Run down. Overhyped. And did I mention overpriced? We checked in for 4 nights, rather looking forward to staying in this hotel. Front desk staff were friendly enough. Offered us either a room at the front of the hotel (with balcony) or one at the back (quieter). We opted for the room with a view (room 102). We honestly couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the room. The foyer area was nice enough, but the room was just ancient (and not in a charming, antique type of way). One mirror, hanging from the bathroom wall, about 30cm x 40cm. A plastic hose running from the bath tap (this was the shower). It looked terrible, so we tested it - sure enough it didnt work. Two single beds. No heating (and the room was freezing) even though it was quite warm outside. I couldn't believe that we were paying 4000 czk a night for this. l went and asked the guy at reception if there were any other rooms available. He said only the one at the back of the hotel. We went and looked at this one (room 124). Quality wise, it was the slightest improvement on our current room, but on trying the shower we found that it sprayed water in every direction and still no heating in the room. It was also possibly the furthest room from the front door, and located right next to a rather smelly shared bathroom. We decided that we were unfortunately better off in our original room. After an hour or so of deliberating on what we should do, (as we had booked the room through an Internet site, and a hefty deposit had already been paid) we decided that we would try one more time and see what could be done. I went and saw (a different) guy at reception and asked him if it would be possible to change rooms. At first he was quite stand-offish, asking why we wanted to change. I explained that we had no heating. He suggested ''Oh no, we don't heat in this town". I then told him that the shower did not work. To this he was more receptive, and gave me two more rooms to look at (410 and 215). The first guy was still at reception (who said there were no other rooms) and looked quite annoyed with us, as if we were being unreasonable. Anyway, we took room 215 which at least had heating and a working shower, but was still way overpriced for what it was. My suggestion is that you find another hotel, closer to Old Town square, as everything in Prague is walking distance anyway. Stay away from here, don't get fooled by the marketing. You will notice that in a lot of their ads they do not show the rooms, only pictures of the foyer and restaurant (which, by the way, the breakfast is also quite below average). Disappointing on all counts… Prague itself is amazing and beautiful though, you can't help but fall in love with it. I highly recommend visiting, and we will one day return to the city, but certainly not this hotel.
