“They set the bar high…”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

The problem I have with this hotel is that they spoiled us so much that when we traveled to our next location’s hotel (a very nice hotel in its own right), it just wasn’t in the same league as the Hotel Pod Vezi, and we longed for the standard that was offered us in Prague.

We stayed in Room 22, which had no view, but was extremely quiet and felt quite spacious, as we our accustomed to much smaller Japanese-style rooms. Air conditioner worked great, flat screen TV, electronic safe, mini-fridge, desk, sofa, full-length mirror, and more (fruit tray, snacks, champagne as welcoming surprises, and fresh squeezed o.j. and espressos for breakfast).

The entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly! I’m sorry I forgot his name but one staff even took us to a money exchange office that he guaranteed would not rip us off. They didn’t.

We ate at the hotel’s restaurant a couple of times outside of breakfast, and it was very good and reasonably priced, but when I asked for other recommendations nearby, the same clerk was spot on! Oh, and this hotel is a thirty-second walk to the best tankova beer in Prague! (Walk another ten seconds to a great wine bar.)

They arranged car service for us from airport to hotel, and from hotel to train station when leaving, which made moving to and fro hassle/worry-free.

To summarize: Not only will you not regret staying here, you’ll be glad you did!

Room Tip: Room 22 is VERY quiet, but there is no view.

Before going to Prague I had read all the reviews written for all 4 and 5 star hotels in Prague that had 4 and 5 star ratings at trip advisor. I had made a shortlist of my top 4 favorite ones, and finally chose Pod Vezi , as it had best rates and was available in August 2013. Once I was in Prague I looked for the other 3 hotels I might have ended up going to and I was so happy I had picked Pod Vezi.
The location of this hotel could not be better. As you see in my pictures, Charles bridge is just a few steps away. Breakfast was great. Customer Service couldn’t be better. The rooftop balcony gives a breath taking view of the city. The beds were comfortable. Even the rolling bed we had asked for a third person was very comfortable. Everything was spotless, shiny, and smelt fresh. WIFI connection was so good we could watch videos on utube. Lunch and dinner dishes were yummy. I couldn’t have enough of the Salmon with cream sauce… everything we had at the hotel restaurant was tasty and fresh. The only problem was that the room we stayed at (in the dependence building) was not air-conditioned and the fan they gave us , although made it very cool and pleasant, was very noisy. However, if you are not travelling to Prague in the middle of a heat wave, you should be OK. All in all I enjoyed staying at this hotel very much and if I ever go back I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at their new facility 4-7th of August . The Temprature reached 34 which seemed to be a record ! They used portable air-condition which was extremely noiesy for me -who used to sleep in quiet surroundings or stay awake!-.
Otherwise Everything was OK!
You can not stay in a better loction in Prague if your a first time visitor and want to see it's tourist attractions .
One of the few hotels that you can use the Resteturant for other than breakfast.
Nice and friendly personnel :)

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. It is perfectly situated at the base of the Charles Bridge and very close to Prague Castle. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and went out of their way to be helpful. The room was clean, quiet and spacious. I couldn't have asked for a better hotel or experience.

We spent 3 nights at this charming, exquisite hotel. First, the location is superb. You are only steps from the Charles Bridge and are mid point from the Old Town and Prague Castle. The property has two buildings so we stayed in the more outlying one. This was not a problem is I only took a couple of minutes to walk from our building to the hotel lobby and breakfast. The rooms are very nicely decorated in the selection and quality of the food at breakfast was outstanding. We are on a 2 1/2 week trip to Europe and this property was definitely the nicest most charming and certainly most distinctive place that we stayed at. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Furthermore they were very willing to tell us more about the Czech culture and language. We ate we ate most of our meals at the hotel restaurant and found both of them to be excellent. Every day you're brought a tree in the afternoon--Fresh fruit, cookies, etc. The hotel also has a very nice rooftop terrace which is a great place to sit and it and it admire the Prague monuments both in daytime and when they are lit up at night. There is nothing not to like about our stay here.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at this lovely hotel. The location is perfect for sight seeing in Prague. The room was large and comfortable and the breakfast had a very nice choice of quality foods. (Particularly enjoyed the freshly squeezed orange juice and cappuccino coffee) The staff were on the whole friendly and helpful. Fresh fruit, sparkling wine and hand made biscuits were nice surprise treats left in our room in the evening. We were delighted we chose to stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it.

We just could not have been any more please with Pod Vezi during our trip to Prague. We stayed four nights and quite frankly didn't want to leave when our time was up.

STAFF: The staff was the most accommodating staff I have ever experienced as a whole throughout the world. From the time I made the reservation online to the time we checked out there was no request we had that was too big or small. Their English was wonderful and they simply wanted to make sure they were doing everything they could to make our stay as pleasant as possible. They even set up a car to pick us up at the airport for a set fee, which was wonderful after a long transatlantic flight.

LOCATION: This simply couldn't have been any better. We were happy every night as we walked back across the Charles Bridge to the quiet Lesser Quarter where noise and tourists quieted down after dark. Compared with the much more hectic, crowded, and noisy Old Town we felt like we were coming home to a peaceful neighborhood every night. However, the hotel was only a 1 minute walk to the edge of the Charles Bridge. There were many wonderful restaurants, markets, shops, parks, and walkways right around the hotel. This included the hotel restaurant and creperie which were excellent and had a 15% discount for hotel guests.

ROOM: We stayed in the beautiful dependence building right across the square from the main building in room 113 which was a twin room. The room was beautiful, large especially by European standards, impeccably clean, and had a huge bathroom and tub. Others have mentioned the AC, but there are a few things to consider. If you want to stay in a beautiful and historical building be thankful it has any AC as they are not allowed to add central AC to these buildings. The dependence building has portable AC units in each room. When we were there Prague was experiencing higher than normal temperatures and although these units don't pump out AC like most Americans may be used to we were happy to have it. From being in other parts of Europe during this heatwave, I believe Pod Vezi's AC worked just as well as any other hotel. So, absolutely no complaints.

Also, each day we came back to a small treat. Chocolates, cookies, champagne, fruit, and we were even given a free crepe and coffee at the end of our stay.

Next time we are in Prague, there is no where else we will stay.
