Dear Touristproffexpert,

Thank you for your feedback and I totally understand your comment regarding the smoke hotel. My company bought the hotel recently and I was appointed General Manager in the middle of March. On my first day I made all public areas of the hotel 100% non-smoking (apart from outside summer garden). We changed from 1/2 of bedrooms being smoking to only two floors and we have spend considerable time cleaning the public areas and bedrooms to get ride of the smoke.

Regarding the water basin, please help me and let me know if you told the reception about the problem after 3 days or if it was repaired after 3 days. This could really help me in understanding where the issues are.

I am happy to hear your comment about breakfast. I'm sure if you came back now you would be even more delighted as we have spend a lot of time in the past 3 months on breakfast and what should be on offer.

We are right now in the process of installing high speed 100/100 GB WiFi in the hotel, as well as adding coffee & tea facilities in the room. Lots of changes will happen over the coming months.

If you decide to come back to Prague, I would very much like to show you how much things have changed since you were here in February before we took over the hotel. Please contact me directly on monika.hilm@parkhotel-praha.cz.

Kind Regards,
Monika Hilm

I stayed at this hotel with my friends for 4 nights and we had a wonderful vacation in Prague.

The hotel is set in the northern part of the city (there is a nice park near the hotel) but it's close to the city center, 7 - 10 minutes max. with tram. The tram station is in front of the hotel and you can buy tickets from a machine in the reception, this was very helpful to us (1 ticket costs 24 kc). The check-in was quick and reception staff friendly. We had a triple room and you should know the third bed is a folding bed but it's quite comfortable, i had no problem with it. The room is clean, also the bathroom but being a double converted in triple, there wasn't much space. That didn't bother us though, since we were away visiting the city almost the entire day.

There is free internet access in the rooms and free WiFi in the reception.

The restaurant is ok and the breakfast is rich, plenty to choose from and the food is good. The hotel was pretty crowded and in the morning the 2 elevators were very busy, since everyone waited in line; we took the stairs every morning and it was ok because we were staying at the 4th floor but that might be a problem for someone older or staying at an upper floor.

Overall it is a good hotel, not very modern but clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it or stay here again.

Dear Christina,

Thank you for your review and I'm delighted that you had a good stay in Prague and with us.
I agree with you that the location of the hotel is convenient with the Stramovka Park next to us and less then 10 minutes with tram to central Prague. When the weather permits, I recommend a nice walk into town along the shopping streets and along the river.

I agree the hotel lobby is not so modern, it is from 1994; the period right after the velvet revolution (1989) when Prague opened up and was heavily influenced by what was seen in other countries in the late 80's. So dark wood and waves in the construction, oversized lamps and emphasis on big details. Hopefully we will soon be able to release our plans for improvements of the lobby.

Since we bought the hotel a few months ago we are working on improving our services and facilities; so thank you for your comments. Our priorities right now are to install WiFi in the bedrooms and replace the elevators as they are very old and therefor not working so fast.

If you are planning a return trip to Prague, I would be delighted to welcome you back to Parkhotel and show you our changes.

Kind Regards,
Monika Hilm

I liked this hotel, i stayed here for 2 nights in may 2013.
Located far from city center (7 minutes by car), parking 20 euro per night (extremely expensive!). If you have not a lot of money, i advice you to park a car right on the streets, we didnt see any parking police, or penalties on the windows, or smth like that.
Nice, big rooms, very clean, window view was cool (room number 711). Breakfast (included) delicious, i loved it! Wi-fi only in the lobby.
Good hotel, real 4 stars.

Dear Mr Kulaev,

Thank you for your feedback.
We bought Parkhotel 2 months ago and are in progress of change and upgrading several aspects of the hotel; including WiFi in the rooms is coming later this year.
I agree the view from the higher floors is really nice and especially now since we have cleaned all outside windows during April:-)!

I do understand that you feel that parking is high for not being down town. Parking is one of the largest issues in Prague, with city center only allowing residents and businesses to park on the street, so please be careful parking on the street. Your car will be removed and you will be charged anything from Euro 60.00 and up to retrieve your car.

For Prague our prices are very competitive considering other hotels and the city. However I can understand that you coming from abroad reacts.

We recommend all our guests to utilize the great public transport system while visiting. We have 2 tramlines stopping 50m from the hotel entrance taking you downtown in 5 minutes. Tickets can be bought in the hotel lobby.

Lastly thank you for your kind comment on our rooms, they are indeed very spacious which few hotels in Prague can say. Considering that the hotel is from 1967 it is quite surprising with the good size, however we are of course very happy about this.

I hope that you will stay with us at Parkhotel again during your next visit to Prague.

Kind Regards,
Monika

This hotel is situated in the north part of the city. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. i've been there 3 days, 2 nights, enough time to visit the city.
Breakfast was included: there was a wide quality of food, from bacon and eggs, to yogurt and cereals, sweets, fruit, milk, coffee etc.
Just around the corner you can find the tram stop - 17 or 12, they both lead you to the center of the town. in the lobby you can use free internet access (wifi).
small price great quality

Cannot fault this hotel,we had a great time. Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast buffet with choice of continental and full English. Rooms spacious, clean with a lovely en suite, had a very comfortable nights sleep. Tram stop outside hotel which took 10 minutes to get to centre of town. Few bars and restaurants next to hotel. Hockey and football stadiums a few minutes walk away if your into that. Loved Prague, very beautiful city and would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

We were booked into Parkhotel for three days during an organized bus tour to visit cultural events in Prague. To be honest – we had not expected too much based on some of the reviews on Tripadvisor. Our impression was that the hotel mainly caters for bus tourists, and being ourselves in this position, we did not find it too bad. The rooms were pretty spacious, well-heated (it was extremely cold outside), clean, and the windows were more or less sound-proof so that we did not hear too much from the 3 roads around the hotel. There is also a huge excavation at the rear of the hotel, but there was no construction work during our stay. The only thing we did not like about the room was that obviously a strange type of cleaner had been used in the bathroom so that there was a smell of anti-septic that they use in hospitals.
Most of the guests in the hotel were bus tourists attending the same cultural events – and these were all ‘well-behaved’ and quiet people. There was one group of Italian students who obviously had been accommodated on different corridors so none of our group members complained about noise.
The food was surprisingly good; a wide selection for breakfast, coffee came from an automatic machine, but not bad at all. Dinner was also presented as a buffet, and since there were so many bus tourists there were several buffet stations in the restaurants, no queues, everything went on very orderly and quiet. The food was hot and in general tasty, only the vegetables were a bit undercooked. Service was fast and drinks were low-priced by German standards.
There was no reason for us to complain about the staff; we were able to communicate with them in German or English, and they were quick to solve a problem we had with our room safe. They are not overly friendly and always smiling as perhaps in American or Asian hotels, but this is perhaps a question of different mentalities.
Perhaps individual tourists might feel a bit lost when so many bus groups are present (there were altogether 9 buses when we were there) and the staff mainly concentrates on those tourists. If you are booked into this hotel as member of a tour group, you can expect adequate service and professional handling of large groups of people.
Finally a word of warning: When you are on ‘castle hill’ do not go into Lobkowicz Palace Café, it is a rip-off per excellence. Our tour guide had reserved tables in this café and we paid an outrageous amount of 24 Euros for 2 cappuccinos, two pieces of cake and one small orange juice. It is much better to walk down to Mala Strana where you find many nice cafes and restaurants with moderate prices.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear of the building might have a problem in the summer when work is resumed on the con...

My husband and I have just returned this afternoon from a three night stay in this hotel. We stayed on the 10th floor, X, room 10. I have to say that the everything was absolutley fine. Clean room, comfortable beds and great views. If we had to have a gripe, it would be that there is no tea/ coffee making facilities in the room. Don't get me wrong, we are far from a decrepid, middle aged couple, but a lovely cup of tea in bed in the morning whilst watching rubbish TV, and thinking about not being at work is just great!
Don't bother with a taxi to the hotel. Right outside the arrivals is a transport booth which sells you a card that gives you unlimited Tram/Bus/Metro, this cost us £22 for us both, for the entire stay ( 72hrs). The guy in the booth speaks perfect English and is very helpful, he told us to catch bus 119 outside the terminal and go to 'Dejvicka' , then catch tram 26, and go to 'Strossmayerovo Namesti' which stops near the hotel. You must validate the ticket by punching it in the machine on the bus, by the driver at the start of you first journey.
We thought breakfast was pretty good, a bit limited, and rather cold, but otherwise fine. Muesli, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast, jams, ham, cheese, bacon, eggs, hot dog sausages,Czech soup, ordinary pancakes, potato pancakes, loads of salad....... (actually it doesn't sound so limited now)
Staff don't gush over you, but are very polite and professional.
We booked this as a complete package through Easyjet and it cost us £200 pounds all in. Flights and three night B&B for two people...... Bargain!!
Give it a go, it is great fun!
