“Great views from rooftop terrace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2007

I didn't stay at this hotel, just went to the rooftop terrace bar based off of a suggestion from a local. The views of Prague were amazing. You can literally see everything. Even though it was late November, it wasn't too cold to be at a rooftop bar, and they also had heat lamps, which helped. Probably would be a great place to hang out in the summer. Nice spot to to take a break, grab a drink and check out the view when exploring Prague.

A terrible disappointment. When we checked in, I asked the clerk if our assigned room was a quiet room. She assured me it was. There are no quiet rooms at the U Prince. We could hear the people clomping above us whenever they were in their rooms, the maids moving the furniture around to clean, a jackhammer somewhere, anyone going up and down the stairs to the roof. Sleep? Not much.
Cheap and few towels (we had to ask the maid each day for extras.) Cheap shampoo and lotions. Peanuts left on the carpet from the guests before. No place for our luggage except on the floor. A safe that I had to get on all fours to access with a warning that the hotel was not responsible for anything left in it. Why bother to have it then?
And to top it off, front desk people who could have cared less about our problems.
5 stars? You've got to be joking.
No reason to stay here when there are so many real 5 star hotels in Prague.

This must be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in - and I have travelled around the world three times.

My sister and I went to Prague a couple of years ago and stayed at the U-Prince. We were given a room in the attic. Admittedly, it was nicely decorated (even if a little OTT) and it seemed clean. The downside was that the roof sloped so much, we could not sit up in bed. We asked for another room, but without success.

As commented on before, the staff were the rudest and most arrogant people I have every had the displeasure of dealing with. We stayed on a B&B basis, but breakfast was a joke. It was cold and unappealing and the crockery was unbelievable - nothing matched and one morning I even ate from a Christmas plate - in August!!

The only good thing one can say about this hotel is that its location is fabulous.

Prague is my favourite European city, but if the U-Prince was the only hotel available, I would never return. I would recommend anyone going to Prague to give this hotel a very wide berth.

Stayed at the U Prince February 13th - 16th 2007. Had booked a standard room but was upgraded to a Junior Suite on arrival. Fabulous hotel in the Old Town Square. Clean, beautiful decor and friendly staff. They even collected us from the airport. Also, the rooftop views are spectacular. Only downside is the church clock opposite which rings throughout the night but it's a small price to pay for such a wonderful location. Highly Recommended.

We just got back from another fabulous stay in prague and i just had to comment on the u prince, this hotel is great and the location doesnt get any better. The hotel is nicely decorated, clean and the food is good, yes the staff are a bit sharp somtimes but tip accordingly, the same applies to anywhere in prague, if you dont like the service leave a crap tip!
The room we had was a junior suite with the huge bed on another level, it certainly had the wow factor. It had a big tv with a few channels one being porn but you dont have to watch it but it was far more interesting than german tv. The breakfast was good, lots of choice but the drinks arnt "help yourself" so beware if youve sampled czech beer the night before, you will go thirsty. My advice is to visit tesco and get yourself a selection of drinks as the mini bar isnt cheap, and there are no tea & coffee making facilities.
All in all this is a good hotel and the roof terrace is a must, we had a great stay. Prague is such a magical place this trip was my third, just remember to take your comfy shoes!!

Booked the U Prince after reading positive reviews on this site. Had high expectations, but the experience certainly exceeded these. We had asked for a room with a view. Boy, did they deliver!! Room 44 is on the 4th floor - double-aspect over the Astronomical clock and main square. One reviewer called the furnishings "bordello". ??? Characterful is more like it. Great atmosphere, and wonderful service throughout - rooftop terrace, ground floor restaurant and bar. Great live music on the groundfloor. Would stay here agian and again and again. In Room 44!
