5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

We stayed in this Hotel from the 30/813 - 3/9/13 it was perfect, the staff very friendly and most helpful, the roof top restaurant was such good value and the food and service was great. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. I would stay there again !

We had specifically requested a quiet room with two twin beds, but were told when we checked in that we had been upgraded to a suite with a king bed right on the second floor overlooking the square (room 11). I was pretty concerned about street noise, which was quite loud at night from the boisterous crowds, clocks, church bells etc, but actually as soon as we closed the double windows and drapes I was amazed that I could barely hear a thing (and the air conditioning unit right above the bed provided extra white noise).

The room itself was gorgeous, with luxurious antique furniture, a sleeping loft, plenty of storage space, and a bathroom with a nice tub and hairdryer. I enjoyed the toiletry products provided and the cushy bath robes and slippers. They brought a rollaway twin bed which was actually decently comfortable.

The staff were very responsive. Some were more friendly / outgoing while others were more reserved, but I didn't experience any of the rudeness that a couple of other reviewers mention. All spoke excellent English, and the regulars at the front desk all recognized us by the second day. They even gave me a little take-away box with a sandwich and banana when I had to take a cab to the airport before breakfast started.

The only main disappointment was breakfast. Although the spread looked gorgeous, the details did not hold up to the level I'd experienced at similar hotels in Europe -- the pastries and assorted fruits were beautiful but not great, and if you're really into coffee you'll have to head around the corner to Ebel. I didn't have any of the made-to-order egg dishes, though, so I can't comment on that.

Room Tip: Room 11 has a sleeping loft, a couch and chair, large wardrobe, amazing views of the town square, an...

I had heard some negative things about the service before I went but I loved the location so we went ahead anyway! We stayed in March and thought the hotel itself was great as were the views from the roof terrace. Our room was nice although our view consisted of the apartments opposite however - it was the perfect location for exploring and enjoying what Prague has to offer. Unfortunately, our trip was tarred by the shockingly poor service (should have listened before I booked!) I have read the hotel's replies to anyone who dares give their negative opinion of this hotel and it often seems to be filled with excuses so I look forward to their reply to mine(!!) but for me - service is incredibly important and they were extremely rude.

Reading through the majority of reviews of which have something negative to say about the U Prince, it often stems back to poor manners of the staff and managers and although I hope the team start taking these points in to consideration rather than once again claiming the customer is wrong - I feel this is a hopeless battle!

I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. Lastly, do pop up to the roof terrace for a drink and great views but don't eat - the food is not great and overpriced. Wonder down some of the back streets for some delicious and reasonably priced local food.

Stayed 3 days with my friends in the middle of the busiest tourist season. Got a very good service from the very beginning. Our luggage was taken to our rooms and our car was taken for parking, in the morning the car was always waiting for us in front of the hotel. We played golf every day on different courses. Even if its sometimes very hard to drive to the city area, we wanted to stay in the centre of Prague.

The rooms were vey personal, I got a room with a look to the clocktower(51) and over Prague roofs. One night we had a dinner on the terrace and it was a really nice one. The restaurant was full but the service was pretty fast and we got excellent service with much better prices than by the river. The view is one of the best in the world.

Breakfast is all You can imagine. We ordered omelette every morning and enjoyed it very much. There is a bar downstairs, having live music every night. You can also have drinks in streetside terrace, its full all the time but drinks are coming quickly.
We really could feel like home and that is because of the good service. Thanks Patrick and others. See You in May!

A great hotel. We booked junior suite..ended up in the main suite room 12 for €170 a night. Gorgeous. Clean room with large living area, bedroom, bathroom. Our own terrace with seating. Good well priced mini bar , TV, DVD, cd, pc! Cleaning service excellent.
We hadn't booked for dinner but they reserved us a table for drinks on the roof terrace...staff a bit "cold" at times but not overly so, and no more than ANY other attraction or cafe/restaurant in Prague.
Best thing is location (although the hourly astronomical clock 'event') gets wearing once you've heard it 20+ times :-)

Pleased we splashed out on a good room. Would stay again

I found this hotel by searching the web and was very, very lucky to have found it. It is really in the heart of the Old Town with many of the fun and wonderful things to see by just walking out. The hotel is in the old palace-like style furniture but new looking. Our room had a unique and artistic beam ceiling . It was fun for us . The bathroom was modern and luxurious with two sinks. We were afraid that the room would be noisy, but the windows overlooked the court yard and was quiet.
Breakfast was wonderful with many choices. Also, one must eat in their Terrace restaurant which has a magnificent view of Prague and good food.
Most of all we found the staff most kind and helpful. At one point a staff member actually walked us personally to another restaurant nearby just so that we do not get lost. We wanted a different restaurant just for variety - and he gave us the recommendation. We have been in many good hotels, but we never had something like that happen to us before.

The best of this place = terrace : take the lift to last floor and discover the terrace and magnificent look to the Old Town square,Tyn church, etc.. really wort it ! Also in the night !!!
So best time in August is to come at 7-8.00 p.m. during the daylight and to leave as late as after sunset.
If you do that without reservation, you will not (most probably )
find free table, as it is constantly overbooked ( been there 3 times in last 2 years).
So, better, make the reservation of the table with a view of Prague before you go there.
