“Great location perfect for weekend break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

We were lucky to have been recommended this hotel by friends who have stayed here so knew we wouldn't be disappointed and we weren't! Great central location perfect to explore the city. The hotel is full of character throughout especially the room (room 41). Really spacious room with a massive bed and bathroom. We were under the roof top restaurant but the soundproofing was faultless. The lift is busy so rooms on upper floors may not suit everyone as stairs are the alternative (I like the exercise). Breakfast was great - something for all tastes. So refreshing to stay in such a unique hotel whose decor inside suited the surroundings and city perfectly and I doubt could be replicated. My only grumble would be smoking is allowed in certain places indoors (on each landing) and this is something we don't see indoors anymore in the UK so find more unpleasant now. Reception very helpful - I wish we had asked them to arrange taxis though as we were ripped off on one journey and the hotel taxi has Pre-fixed prices. We didn't know this until after the event! Poor wifi in room 41 but fine downstairs.

We stayed in this hotel as my birthday treat. Overall experience was nice except of the girl at the reception. She didn't make us feel welcome, didn't offer breakfast, missed the fact it was my birthday.
However location of this hotel is great and our room 31 was very comfortable, spacious and tastefully furnished with antique bed, tables, dresing table, desk etc. Also bathroom was excellent and we believe the shower curtains are on the way. We didn't have a view though.
Highlight of this stay was a roof terrace where we drank our free welcome sparkling wine, staff there was very polite and everybody said hello and bye. Views are magnificient and we went back at the end od our evening to admire Prague at night.
Bed in the room and bedding was the most comfortable and we had an excellent sleep, only woken up quite late by somebody walking in the room above us.
Apparently rooms with the front view over the Old Town square can be noisy all night.
Hotel corridors are also gracefully furnished and decorated with pictures and flowers and nice carpets.
We didn't eat at the hotel but menu and food served around us look delicious.
I didn't pick the bill but think you pay the price for this No. 1 location and well presented hotel.
All staff at the hotel was pleasant and professional except of this receptionist who made it even worse at the check out.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with a view and preferrably not for attic rooms. Visit roof top terrace.

The rooftop terrace at the U Prince (at the south-east corner of Old Town Square, near the astronomical clock) is a fantastic setting. On one side are great views of Mala Strana (Lesser Town) and the castle/Petrin hill area, and on the other you’re looking at the astronomical clock, down to Old Town Square itself, and across to Our Lady Before Tyn church. You could easily while away an hour sipping at a couple of drinks whilst watching the rest of the world from on high.

We dropped in (went up?) twice for drinks. Considering where it is and the views, 2 beers and a large glass of white wine came to c£12 which we thought was worth it. Two words of warning however – firstly, if you want to have just drinks and it’s meal time (our second visit was at 8 p.m.) they will accommodate you if there’s a table free but don’t expect good service – the staff will be more interested in guests paying for food and you end up being rather ignored. Secondly, it’s pot luck with the white wine. The first time it was excellent, the second was vinegary so if in doubt, stick to red!

If you go at a less busy time and are only after a drink (our first visit was around 4 p.m.) then it couldn’t be beaten as a relaxing place to have a break, rest your feet, and enjoy amazing sights while being refreshed.

They say it's all about location location location. Well this has it, right on the old town square.
If there is anything I would say is pay the extra and get junior suite. Found it on comparison site innstant for buttons for what it was. Huge room overlooking astronomical clock, over two stories with a lounge and really nice bathroom. The food was good, service excellent, room stunning, location perfect & incredible value considering. A huge bonus to being so well located is that we could walk to all the main attractions within minutes. We could easily pop back during the day for a rest or to freshen up. This meant our only time using transport was from and to the airport.
The one downside is the noise from outside being so central. This is only if your a late riser & sensitive to noise, as tourist flock past from 8 or 9.
As like most hotels in prague they have a vendor outside selling hot coco and mulled wine. if you don't stay here at the very least get there hot coco!!!! The best I have ever had by a mile and very well priced considering its location (had some very average hot coco and mulled wine from other nearby vendors and they were as much as twice the price) the hotel cocktail bar is in the basement. This is also worth a visit even if you don't stay. It is like a time machine back to the 20's with proper old school cocktails and concoctions, where the bar tenders really know their craft and when we were there an old man playing standards on the piano. It was very cool!

Going back to Prague for Christmas and will be staying here again.

Was a bit disappointed on arrival, their online brochure gives the impression that they have large rooms but due to a full house we ended up in a small attic room on the 4th floor with sloping ceilings which we had to get used to. The bath had the continental type hand held shower, but no bath screen or curtain, so very difficult to use without drowning the bathroom. Not being the sort to let such things spoil our holiday we said nothing and stuck it out. The beds are comfortable and the pillows are some of the best we've used. The rooms are cleaned daily and the staff do an excellent job. There was one advantage to the attic rooms, that is the sound from the people in the square is less intrusive, so it does not spoil your sleep. If you have sensitive hearing they do provide nice ear plugs. Reception is very friendly and helpful. The food is of an acceptable standard. One downside is the downstairs piano bar, though very nicely built it is a bit small and the thing that irked us most was we saw seats/tables near the piano that were reserved every night, but we never saw anybody using them, (very annoying) and the beer is a bit pricey compared to other places. The hotel location is excellent and the service is quite good. We would use this hotel again, but only if we got bigger rooms.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are quieter but very small. Check on booking what rooms you are being given.

Best hotel experience in Prague so far (this was our fifth time in Prague). We had Luxury Suite (room 12) and it was absolutely fabulous. Room height was almost 6 meters, we had own big terrace and room was something like 100 square meters. View was straight to astronomical clock and to Old Town square so the location could not be better. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Roof Terrace was also great experience. View and food was outstanding.
We will absolutely come back to this hotel, maybe next summer!

Room Tip: You must try room 12.. ;-D

We were moved to the hotel for one night as the hotel we'd booked was over-booked. We'd had a very poor lunch at the U Prince earlier in the day, with an under-cooked burger and very surly waiter, but were pleased with the hotel itself. The room was small and a bit dark, but comfortable and well furnished. We had a stunning view over Kafka's house, and across to the astronomical clock and Old Town Square. The bathroom was very nice but bizarrely missing a shower curtain. Our actual hotel, Savic Hotel, is nicer, but U Prince is a good hotel with a great location.
