My wife suggested this hotel, partly based on TripAdvisor feedback and as she knows the city she thought the location ideal. It proved an excellent choice on both counts. I arrived around 11.00 a.m. and was able to check in straight away ('official' check in is, I think, from noon, though its not stated on the hotel website). Ondrej on the reception desk was very friendly, and efficient. My room, No.16 on the third floor, was directly oppposite the elevator, and comprised a double bedroom plus adjacent lounge with bed-settee, table and chairs, tea/coffee facilities, mini-bar, widescreen TV and WC/shower room. The decoration is, I assume, a traditional style, with - in this case - green/white stencil painting and solid wooden furniture. The colours were a little gloomy in the winter light, but there is plenty of illumination. Plenty of power points, too, for charging cell phones, cameras, laptops etc. and the (free) wifi worked perfectly. The shower room, though a little cramped, was well-equipped. There was no sign of air conditioning but the temperature was comfortable throughout my three night stay. The hotel is on the corner of a pleasant square, with Charles Bridge at the other end, just two minutes away. Despite this proximity to a tourist hotspot, the area is very quiet and does not suffer from traffic or pedestrain noise; in fact my only disturbance came from some US guests returning late one night (but hey, it was Thanksgiving!). A generous buffet breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant; an attractive room with brick vaulted ceiling, and this should cater adequately for most tastes and appetites. A wide variety of hot and cold food is on offer plus tea, coffee, juices etc. from machines. The location proved ideal; if you enjoy exploring cities on foot, the Archibald is ideally situated for most of the key tourist destinations and tram or metro services can be reached within a few minute's walk. The hotel was smart and clean, staff were friendly and helpful (all the guys on the front desk spoke excellent English) the bed was comfortable and everything worked! The only thing my room actually lacked was a bath, which would have been very relaxing after a day walking on Prague's cobblestones, but that was largely my own fault! A river view might have been a bonus, but I only needed to walk out of the front door and turn the corner. My three night stay was very reasonably priced (under £150) and the airport-hotel-airport transfer I had booked in advance (550 CzK - about £18 - each way) provided a great stress-free begiining and end to my short trip. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and I intend staying there again, hopefully in Spring 2013!
