“Wonderful Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

The property is in a perfect location, and the staff could not have been more helpful. Located in the Lesser part of the city within just a few steps of the Charles Bridge. Room was facing the river and very spacious by standards. Breakfast was well done with a great many choices. Front desk staff helped with guided tours, money exchange or any other needs. Understand there are two Archilbald hotels so be sure you are working with the property by the Charles Bridge.
Would return to this hotel property again without hesitation. Property had free WiFi and hotel guests computers to use.

Room Tip: River side rooms are a little higher priced but no street sounds.

Excellent, clean hotel on the "quiet side" of the Vltava River, just a 2 minute walk from the Kampa Island end of the Charles Bridge. Our two-bedroom "family room" was comfortable and spacious. Quiet at night, with a view of the river and the old city across the way. Ate dinner one evening at the riverside tables of the hotel restaurant - food and service were excellent. Breakfast was about what one would expect - nothing fancy but very adequate. All staff were polite, friendly, and welcoming. Parking is limited, but our two-family party had no problem parking both cars directly outside the front door of the hotel. We felt quite safe leaving our cars parked there for the duration of our visit. No question this is where I'll be staying on my next visit to Prague!

It is as good as everyone says. We were assigned a room on the first floor near the reception desk and were awake pretty early from the noise from the upstairs neighbor. This room was like a dungeon. We could not understand the good reviews about the hotel on TA.
We requested to be moved, and were placed in a Garden Room and what a difference! Now we could understand the 5* reviews! The room was quiet, bright, and large. Breakfast was really complete, buffet style in a cool stone room, and staff was extremely friendly and helpful, besides one smug sarcastic front desk person who seemed like he was perhaps filling in for someone. A++ Hotel. We preferred staying on this side, because it was close to everything, but not in the crazy souveniry, bar/club recruiting area of the old town area. Be prepared to walk and cross the Bridge several times (which takes about 5 minutes), and the cobble stoned streets of Prague don't make it easy on the feet! P.S. They can store luggage for you while you explore.

Room Tip: Unless you are on a budget, request a room not on the 1st floor.

One minute walk from the overcrowded Charles Bridge, next to a park. Perfect location for a relaxing stay in Prague. Housed in a 15th century building. Ask for a room overlooking the river ( we didn't!) as there is a brilliant view of the Vltava and the "new town," which is of course old - after all it is Prague we are talking about :) Restaurant very cosy and atmospheric. Putin and Joe Biden have eaten there, at different times.... We will go back there - highly recommendable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river. There is only A/C on the 3rd floor if you go in the summer

A friend and I shared a double room for five nights, and we were completely happy with this hotel. The location would be hard to beat: just steps from the Little Quarter end of the Charles Bridge, on Kampa Island. You're an easy walk from anywhere in the Little Quarter, Old Town, or New Town -- and if you don't mind an uphill workout (we didn't), you're close the the Castle Quarter, as well. We were able to leave our windows open slightly for the cool night air, without having our sleep disturbed by noise.

Our room was very spacious, with comfortable twin beds, night stands, sofa, small table with chairs, and plenty of storage. The bathroom was compact but efficient and immaculate, with a tub/shower that had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Room lighting was good, and the two, large windows overlooked the river, which was an unexpected bonus. There was an in-room safe, though I question the effectiveness given that you could have literally picked it up and walked out with it (that explains the 500 crown deposit to obtain a key!). There is radiator heat, though we didn't need it during our stay, and the room was also equipped with a ceiling fan and a stand-up, oscillating fan.

Wifi is included at no additional fee, and it was reliable. There are also two workstations in the lobby for guest use, and loaner IPads are available for a substantial deposit.

I found the front desk staff to be exceedingly helpful and accommodating. The restaurant staff was perhaps slightly less schooled in gracious customer service (tip: don't wait to be seated, just grab a spot), but the setting was lovely, and the food quite good. The included buffet breakfast provided an excellent selection of hot and cold items, along with never-ending coffee or tea; it was the perfect start to a busy day of seeing this beautiful city.

Getting to the Archibald from the airport is easy, and dirt cheap using public transportation. Take the 119 (red line) bus from the airport to the Dejvicka Metro station. From there, it's two stops to Malostranska, where it's an easy downhill walk to the hotel. In all, this took no more than forty-five minutes, for less than two US dollars. You can buy your ticket at the airport, in the same area where you'll find four ATM machines for getting local currency.

I'd gladly return to this stunning and historic city, and when I do, I will certainly return to this hotel.

Stayed here for a 3 day break with friends. The 3 rooms we were allocated were to a very high standard, however one of them (29) was next to the laundry room which meant a lot of early morning noise. The other 2 however (31 & 32) are in a secluded part at the back of the hotel which meant they were very quiet. Unfortunately all the rooms were on the ground floor, which meant we were devoid of any of the stunning views of the river that the rooms on the upper floors offer.
The hotel has a restaurant and bar, which is were breakfast is served, and you get 10% discount for all food and drinks purchased. The breakfast was actually quite nice for a continental hotel, bacon sausage eggs and beans meant that the traditional Brit Abroad was catered for.
The hotel is situated on Kampa Island and slap bang next to the Charles Bridge, meaning that all the major attractions are within a 20 minute walk. We only needed to get the tram to visit the castle, purely to avoid the hike up the hill.
The hotel staff are all friendly, bar one surly barman who seemed to take a dislike to us, and all speak excellent English.
This surely has to be one of the nicest hotels in Prague.
P.S. The opening scenes to the Mission Impossible film were filmed directly outside the hotel, which gives you ample opportunity to reenact them if you're so inclined!

Room Tip: Avoid room 29. Rooms 31&32 are very quiet and secluded but don't have a view.

We spent 3 nites at this hotel in late September upon a recommendation from my friend's co-worker. Was a great location for touring Prague. The staff were very helpful, and our room was small, but unique, clean and faced the internal terrace (so super quiet). I would not hestitate in recommending this to others, and would stay here again if I ever make it back to beautiful Prague!
