“Charming Charming Charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2011

My partner and I absolutely loved this hotel. We are hoping to go back there soon. Although it is not right in the old town of Prague, you can still get there easily by walking. We had an amazing room (or suite?) on the roof. That room is perfect if you are traveling with children because it is huge with a double bed and two extra beds! We loved the windows because you could see Prague and the roof tops of houses. Above our bed was a window and we could also look at the stars at night. Very romantic and cozy. We felt so comfortable, it was hard getting out of bed! There is a terrace near the room where you can just sit and enjoy the view from above. I always love being on the roof in any city and Prague is very charming from the top! Breakfast was very good and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I forgot my rings at the hotel and they kindly sent them to me by mail! Very kind indeed!

Room Tip: Get a room on the roof!

We stayed there for 5 nights on the Easter. Two with a kid. Ideal location, Tram around the corner, but close to everything on foot (15-20 min)). Very helpfull and polite staff especially with the kids. The view from the rooftop terrace was great. The room and the bathroom was very spacious and comfortable. Nicely designed room and library (at the entrance of the hotel). Good meal from the hotel restaurant when we needed it at the room and reasonably priced. Very practical luggage box and free shower/towels for the people who fly late. Delicious and plenty of choice breakfast. My only complaint, is the curtains. Black curtains would make the morning awakening less annoying. I strongly recommend Hotel Julian to all! We had a great stay, and i hope to be back again.

We spent four nights at Hotel Julian as part of an extended visit to the Balkans/eastern Europe. We were met at the train station by a driver - probably more expensive than a taxi but no need to figure out the lay of the land or deal with notoriously fraudulent taxi drivers. Hotel ambiance, room, location, and service were outstanding. A very quick and convenient tram ride to all major sites. Easy walk to several excellent restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor or rear room.

I stayed at Hotel Julian for 3 nights and had an absolute great time. The folks at the front desk were very helpful and informative. Our room was super clean and bigger than other typical european hotel rooms. Would stay at Hotel Julian again no problem!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in May 2010 and overall thought it was excellent. The customer service was very good and there were lots of interesting features such as the knight in shining armour and the lovely roof terrace complete with bronze statue.

The room and en-suite were of a good size and very clean, only real criticism was that it was bit faded.

The staff were great and even arranged our 2 travelling teddy-bears (*ahem*) on the bed!

Breakfasts were really nice and plenty of choice.

We had a drink in the basement bar on several nights and found it really pleasant and reasonably priced; we wouldn't especially recommend the bar food as you can get better food for less money nearby.

The hotel's location is great; it's about a 20 minute walk from Old Town and smack bang in the middle of the far more interesting district of Mala Strana - we found loads of great places to eat and really interesting places to visit.

As a whole, we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return!

I stayed at Hotel Julian with my family (wife and two small kids) for 5 nights, and the stay was very nice. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Pros:
1) Very good value for money
2) WIth 2 kids in the room, I took the triple room with an extra baby cot. The room was of a decent size (included small couch and a table), and felt larger because of the very high ceilings. Nice bathroom as well.
3) Free breakfast! (actually included with the room price, which still comes out as a very good value).
4) In a nice quiet corner of Prague. Very close to Petrin Hill, and 2 blocks from the river (very close to the small island with a children's park, which my son enjoyed a lot).
5) Exceedingly nice hotel staff.

The only 'con' I can think of:
1) Hotel is a littel far off from the Charles Bridge/Prague castle area. Just to give an idea, I could walk to Charles Bridge from the hotel in 20 minutes with a stroller (and the walk is through the lovely Kampa area). This is not a big problem, since the hotel is very close to tram stations (we took trams 9 for old town and 22 for castle). It does become a little tiring though if you have very young kids (or are lugging a stroller/carrier), and sometimes I wondered if it would have been better to have a hotel nearer to Charles Bridge when my baby son was cranky at 9 in the night, and I had to walk/take the tram back to the hotel.

Having said that, for a triple room with a baby cot, the hotel was great value for money. I would highly recommend it for everyone (including families), with a caveat that it may not be for people looking to be really close to the center of action in Prague.

We recently spent a couple of sun filled days in the Czech Capital and were extremely impressed with this hotel. Situated about 15/20 mins walk from Charles Bridge and the Old Town it was a haven of peace, coupled with excellent service. All staff spoke excellent English and were only too happy to help with tips and suggestions for places to visit or eat.
