“Authentic Czech food near Prague Castle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

Golden Star is just across the Charles Bridge in the direction of Prague Castle. Its 5 minutes walk from bridge
There is a good wine list andextensive menu including Czech cuisine.
Wr had Beef broth with vegetables 60k,
Beef goulash with potato croquettes 250k, beef stroganoff with rice 250k, and Beef steak and vegetables 350k
Lots of bread
Try and get a table outside for a fantastic view. It's just at the. Junction where the road turns towards Prague Castle

we had supper at the golden star hotel restaurant - it was very good value for money with a good view - we can really recommend this restaurant for good service - it also seemed to be quite popular among guests and locals

at the time of choosing a hotel, the window views were important to me, I saw some pictures and I though I would have better views, I even wrote an email before arriving to ask if I could see the city from the window but this was just in my dreams... From The window, we could just see the wall from the house opposite, to get the views you have to book the best and upgraded most expensive room, otherwise just a wall, if you go in summer it can be difficult to sleep as they don't have air con and the street is so narrow that we opened the window but we could get air.., at 5am every morning as the window was open because we were so hot we were be awake with the noise of lorry motor loading for hours. Don't get me wrong the room was nice and clean but it was hot and difficult to sleep.
Not good for disable people as the hotel is in a deep hill and could be very difficult to push a wheelchair.
The Breakfast was really nice, plenty of choice, nothing to complain about ;)
You get discount in their restaurant but their restaurant is more expensive than others in the same street which they are nicer and with more character than this one, also golden star restaurant was closing very early so we didn't have dinner here at all, we went a couple of times to a restaurant just down the same street called Laury, the food was delicious and really good prices, (Golden StAr was much more expensive) having food in Laury was a great opportunity to try Prague typical dishes!
The staff in Golden Star were not specially friendly with the exception of a young man who was really really helpful.
I won't come back here if I come to Prague again.
I wanted to review and do pictures of this hotel for my travel blog but as I did not like it I though I am not going to waste my time to do a review on it.
I will be showing pictures and all the places of Prague in my blog, it is s wonderful city and we enjoyed the visit, just the hotel wasn't what I was expecting, the room is nice but do not go in summer!

We have just returned from a week in this hotel and what a superb location so long as you are able to walk up hills. The staff were very friendly and helpful and great with their local knowledge. We loved having breakfast on the terrace with a lovely view. Room and bathroom was elegant and spotless . We plan to return next year to the same hotel.

The beds were comfy and the staff were very helpful. There are fans in the room to help on hot days. The restaurant had good food and generally good service. The included breakfast had lots of options and was high quality.

Rooms street side can be noisy at night. Rooms stair side on floor 1 and 2 lack privacy since people walking down stairs can look right in. Rooms looking out over the patio have best view.

Room Tip: Rooms looking out over the patio have best view.

The view from our window was breath taking. As for the room it was large, airy, wonderfully decorated and comfortable. The service and personnel at the hotel were exceptional very friendly and helpful. If you are planning a trip in Prague you can not go wrong with the Golden Star.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street have a great view of downtown.

Excellent hotel and location as long as you don't mind walking up the steep hill towards the castle. Room was very good although no air conditioning or safe in the room. Staff very attentive at breakfast with excellent choice. Lovely sitting out on the verandah. A nice touch of having sparkling wine for guests at breakfast!.

Dear Madam,
thank you for your kind words and rating, we appreciate it very much! I am glad to inform you that there is a safe in every room in a cupboard and that you can get to our hotel by tram 22 to stop Pohorelec and then just walk about 4 minutes down the hill by Uvoz street. There is even a wonderful view on the whole city if you take that way!

Thank you again and I wish you a very nice summer!
